Correction on that last remark; it has been delayed until jan 2022.
So from 2022 anything bought in Europe by someone in the Uk will be charged with tax.
Also private shipments.

Anything bought in the UK by Europeans is being charged with tax since 2021.

Sets for the Uk I can ship this year until dec 2021 without being charged with tax.
In 2022 shipping sets back to the UK by me will be added roughly 20% on total worth on arrival.

Keep in mind: anything shipped to me at this moment will be charged with tax.
Tips: State place of origin: Uk - not Japan. After 50 years in the UK one could assume the parts have integrated enough.
Keep shipment value as low as possible.

I initially thought some packages would slip through or would not be checked.
But its the shipping companies that bill you. Customs doesn't even check.
Experience sofar:
DHL: Package held hostage. Payment upfront. After payment, package will be delivered.
UPS: They simply send you a bill at their convenience. This could also be 2 weeks after delivery.

Sorry, I didn't vote for this. But yeay, blue passports.

The other way round the same. I have to pay 100 euro extra on a 400 euro order in the UK.
Customers in The Netherlands, Germany  -probably the whole of the EU are now aware of how much extra we do have to pay.
First reaction: we don't buy there anymore.
Second reaction: we'll get it somewhere else...

I already found the same products through a customer in Norway in China.
Better quality, free shipment.
But normally I would not even have looked for those parts there....

Only the outlet has a seal.
Because that one is down.
The upper valve guide doesn't need one.
The outlet valve has an extra cap over the seal.
The inlet misses that cap as well..

Use RAL 9005 and you will be ok.

Even if RS don't have the colour they can mix it. Currently RS are are matching and mixing a Honda paint colour (Satellite Blue Metallic) that they did not have by using a small fairing panel I sent them.

I contacted 5 or 6 motorcycle paint suppliers. No one even listed the colour and 3 of them suggested that I try RS.

Do you have a sample of Satelite blue metallic?
This may be a bit of a strange question but could you send me a sidecover to match the paint?
I am collecting Honda colours and this colour is very unique since (as far as I know) this colour is only sold in the US...
I would pay for your inconvenience...

I am a bit too young to remember the 70's but one of my best friends told me that he remembers rows and rows of 350 fours (mostly green) parked on the street.
Almost everyone would run to the shops to change the look of their bikes enough to make it 'special'. To have it stand out just a bit.
Original was boring and a different mirror or a white dirt flap on the back could already make enough difference.
However, if you were handy enough the four in fours were tossed because those make your bike look antique.
4 in one was the way to go. Making your bike up-to-date again.
A race seat was easy enough and racer looking steering bars almost a must.

Only old people (above 40 or so) would leave their bikes original.
Honda even had a complete series repainted in flashy 70's paint special for the Dutch market.
I have to say - this was in the Netherlands in the '70s...

I wouldn't buy a readily altered cafe although nowadays some really beautiful cafe's are being built.
Still, I think a front fender is a must to drive properly.

If you build a cafe just for yourself. It should be ridable - but you don't have to - and never sell it.
That can be really fun. And a bit strange as well, knowing this will never be turned back into an original...
It is comforting to know that sooooo many original bikes are being restored back to factory standard and I contribute to that actively, that I can 'destroy' one without feeling really guilty.. ;D

Always an interesting read.

I am doing a Kawasaki z900 now in brown-orange, just for me.
Those lines are really interesting to do - bucket list material..
A green yellow z900 is planned as well...

Is the CB550 Super Sport orange, a candy paint - a friend is painting his, so asking for him?

Thanks, Andrew

Shiny orange is a straight paint. No metallic, no candy.

CB350/400 / Re: Defective battery or charging problem or other?
« on: June 29, 2020, 07:52:40 PM »
Start bike,
let it idle.
Pull the minus cable from the battery while the bike is running.

If the bike stalls, it is either your rectifier or your alternator.
If the bike keeps running it is your battery.
