OK Ladles and Jelly spoons today's task if you care to accept it is the identification of the clutch basket I have just purchased.
I bought a complete clutch basket from the bay of fleas and it seems to be different to the one in my bike. The one on the right of the pics are from my bike and the ones on the left are the replacement ones. So my question is simply this.....Is it just a straight swap or am I heading for disaster if I fit the new one?

The one on the left is K3, K4 and some K5's ;)
To be compatible you will have to measure it up.
I have a K6/F1 basket on my stock list, I will just need to find it.

Thanks for the reply Triggs. Just to clarify my position, the basket is complete with plates, washers etc and the basket fits on the bikes splines, so yes it will fit, I was just worried if the design difference would make any issues with the clutch operation, bear in mind what I know about bike maintenance etc can be written in large letters on the back of a postage stamp! ??? :o

The centre spline is the same on all units, the kick start cog are all the same so, should fit. But, I have never tried to fit one myself. If you put both baskets with the plates, springs and lifter plate together and measure the height of both, if the same then it is a go ;) ;)

Thanks for that Trigger, I will try that. Watch this space..... ::)

;) hi mike yes I have done the clutch swap several times over the years for some reason or another I do recall one issue with the clutch dragging I think I replaced the thrust washer as they do come in a few different thickness anyway it does work
if I was you I would swap the complete unit as you have suggested less things to go wrong just watch for buckled clutch plates and check they all within specified tolerance

Thanks Steff, I have checked the plates and springs and are all still within tolerance.
