Title: Membergroup names
Post by: SteveD CB500K0 on September 10, 2014, 01:26:14 PM
It has been a long time since we last discussed this and I think that the old "Cafe guru" stuff is a bit dated.

I will rename and renumber the membergroups if you'd all like to pitch in with suggestions.

At present:

Newbie   0 posts
Member   10 posts
Bike Polisher   50 posts
Plug Changer   100 posts
Top End Fixer   250 posts
Engine Builder   500 posts
Ace Restorer & Cafe Guru   1000 posts

Bearing in mind that Bryan has over 2500 posts, we need a new scale...

How about:

SOHC Lurker   0 posts
SOHC Newbie   1 post
SOHC Associate   50 posts
SOHC Member   100 posts
SOHC Pro   500 posts
SOHC Master   1000 posts
SOHC Jedi   2500 posts

Also, I might reserve the name "Sponsor" for those trade sellers who are actively participating and donating to the site.

Thoughts?

I think a 250 posts rename would be good to keep (mainly as that's my next one ;)).

We can have as many as you like.

Suggest one.

But that would make me just a member.
Mind you I'm no Pro  :-[

Steve, it always says picture too big.
James, i am very old school. I would not even know what a iphone was. I did not have a mobile phone until August 2013. Most of my business comes at a table in the pub with a pint or even a letter. I have had people saying for years that i need a website but, i am always snowed under with work. I have had the medium size engineering firm and it was too much trouble. And yes i am still at work at the moment.

That's cool. My Dad has spent 50 years in the trades (as an electrician) up until this year when he retired finally, Up until 2 years ago he'd never even touched a computer (seriously) or even used the web. Old school is an understatement. He still types all of his invoices on a typewriter from scratch. Anyway, we bought him an ipad and iphone last year and he's all over it. Now we can't keep him off the bloody things ha ha..bless him. You can teach an old dog new tricks :-)....

Not this old dog James. My lunch today was with Dick Waldron (wheel builder) born in 1930, been a wheel builder since 1945 and still working today. This guy is famous in the industry and trues a wheel by eye. That is old school, he make feel young.

:-) love it. Almost 70 years building wheels...crickey, you'd imagine he's probably perfected it by now.

To be honest these bloody new smart phones are a bit of a curse in many respects....always on, get in the way of real conversations etc...old school is still cool...:-).

James, he is better than me. Well, i have only been at it for 24 years. He was impressed with my new laser beam truing lights.

How do I protect my 'Newbie' status?

It goes well with my 2011 join date.   8)
