Hi All
I had a short in my wiring and confirmed this with my multimeter I disconnected the negative lead and set my meter to Amps then put one lead to the negative lead and the other to the negative post and got a reading (can’t remember the reading) however I then used a test lamp which lit up and I had 12volts from the negative lead to negative post. I think I have found the short but still get a reading of 12 volts across the negative lead and negative post but no amps and the test light did not light up
All the above with ignition on or set to park
Have I got another issue Thanks

The spark plug sparks outside The compression test was weird as it was higher than the 3 other cylinders with throttle fully open but lower than the others when closed, not sure how to do a leak test

Hi all I have a issue with number 1 cylinder not firing I have tried a number of thing listed below and now starting to think engine rather than ignition or fuel The engine sounds good when warmed up but remove plug 1 and still sounds good no change bike tends to overheat after a run. New coils leads and plugs Took lead off plug no difference in engine running Swapped number 1&4 over good spark New carbs Cleaned carbs a number of times Checked valve clearance Plug is black ( scooty carbon) all rest light brown Compression check incorrect way throttle not open 1= 70 2-4 = 100 Compression check correct way 1 = 145 2 -4 = 125 Check temperature of manifold 1 = 60 2 -4 = 150 approximately Used easy start direct into inlet manifold no difference
Any help ideas would be appreciated Thanks

Hi all For months now I’ve been trying to tweak my 550 carbs I now have new carbs air filter and still have the same problem my spark plugs 1&4 are always rich (black) and 3&4 weak to normal (light brown) this makes me think ignition, I think I have a David silver electronic ignition as when I set the timing on 1&4 there is no adjustment for 2&3 The bike sometimes takes a little while to start then hesitant to pull away but runs great at higher speeds I have changed carbs, filters coils and plugs each time we get better but the plugs are always the same. The bike used to overheat and oil warning light would come on at low revs and tick over would drop Any ideas before I change the electronic ignition Thanks

Hi all I am slowly getting all the correct parts for my 550 air filter I have a few questions hopefully someone can help On the air filter case the pipe on the side I believe is from the engine breather the one on the bottom is a drain Looks like there should be a hose from the airbox where does this go ? Inside the bottom of the air filter case should be a oil separator thingy I have one on it’s way but what go’s on top of that And lastly any advise on inline fuel filters
Thanks Rich
