Any thoughts on preparing the surfaces first? Vapour blasting perhaps or a jolly good scrub with Brillo pad or something similar.

I agree with Sumpmagnet above. Having recently sent a cylinder block back to the USA to have the nikasil bores replated. I stated on the export form that it was for repair and to be returned to me. ParcelForce were very helpful in completing the paperwork. Job done, sent back to me, cleared customs and no import duty / VAT. Bingo. Just as well as I'd paid the import duty etc when I bought the cylinder in the first place. Keep copies of all paperwork, especially receipts from abroad, you never know when you might need them.

Well, there's a challenge. Nothing that time, elbow grease and whole heap of pesos can't fix.
Good luck and please keep us posted on progress.

Hello John

These took some time to find, as usual they were in the last place I looked. Anyway here are the pictures I promised. There is a tiny bit of damage to one of the covers which I have done my best to photograph.

I think I have a pair of used ones which may be of interest. I'll dig them out and post a picture.

I couldn't agree more. Loads of junk on Flea-bay that should have gone into the melting pot. Just found a CB750 petrol tank for £135, hmm, not bad until you consider the numerous dings and dents, some small, some medium and at least one large and there is also some ferrous oxide thrown in for free.

Somebody got themselves an absolute bargain. Funnily enough I have a pair of NOS F2 headlight brackets lurking in the garage, but I'd want a bit more than £55 for them.

Anyone going to Donington this weekend for the CRMC meeting? If so, do come and say hello, I'll be on the Melbourne loop with my CR750 and in the GP legends parade.

CB750 / Carburettor Inlet Rubbers
« on: July 08, 2021, 12:34:05 PM »
Does anyone have the dimensions of the Honda CB750 carb inlet rubbers (the diameter of the hole at each end)? Particularly those fitted to the CB750 F2. I'm looking for a set of rubbers for a set of Keihin race carbs with ticklers (CR31) to attach to a K0-K6 cylinder head. The spigot on the carbs measures 40mm and surprise, surprise the rubbers for the K0-K6 models don't fit.
Thanks
Eric

And the blue boxed Wessel with Phillips bits that chewed the heads

That's because the screw heads were JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) and not Philips

I can not believe that made £800 when, this one is nice and original >>> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-cd250u/284056616193

Its amazing that the good one doesn't sell, but the 'heap of the week' sells for £800. I always remember a stamp dealer many moons ago telling me that people buy rubbish.

CB750 / Vapour blasting
« on: October 07, 2020, 04:46:25 PM »
Looking to have a CB750 cylinder head vapour blasted recently I was pointed in the direction of Mark (07795 102487) at East Lincs Vapour Blasting in Alford. Thanks to Julie for the tip.
Here's the result, an excellent job at a very reasonable price (£40).

Use an aluminium foil tray from a pie. The bonus is that you get to eat the pie, before messing about with petrol that is.

This problem sounds very familiar. If you have to replace the float needles and seats use genuine parts, others are pretty dire from my experience. As Julie says check that the floats float and they are all at the same level, mine didn't. I replaced the float needles and floats on my 350F and all is now tickety-boo and leak free. I had a similar problem with brass floats on an H2 which sank i.e. full of holes and full of petrol. Allens Performance came to the rescue with 3 new floats, problem solved and that was long before ethanol problems.

Cheers all

Part No. 77212-323-300 is listed for the CB350 four. If perchance anyone has a couple can I please join the queue behind Steve.
