I am fitting a set of tapered steering head bearings form David Silvers, which came with a washer that goes on the stem below the bearing cone. Should I also install the thin Honda washer and dust seal?
Thanks

From memory, I think I left something out when using their taper headset - couldn't get the thick spacer on ?

Hi Justin,
You do need the spacer and seal under the bottom race.

Thanks Steve,
I worked on the assumption that these items should be used.
My latest problem is that it appears that I have stripped the thread on the adjuster nut, as my bearings will not tighten up enough to be rideable. Will have to pull everything apart again to inspect. Perhaps the 6mm or so of upper bearing seat that protrudes from the steering neck in the new set-up has contributed to this issue. I had to find a thinner lock-nut washer to enable it to get purchase on the upper thread also.
Has any one had their steering stem re-threaded?

Did your bearing set come with 2 spacers of different thickness? If so, use the thinner one under the bottom race. Obviously the thicker this spacer is the less stem will be sticking up through the top yoke.

The DSS kit came with one spacer only.
