Title: Jis screwdrivers
Post by: Colonial-Clive (yindi) on November 16, 2016, 02:52:22 PM
Hi guys and gals found this site today for JIS screwdrivers that fit the old cross heads, no more chewed screws.

Yes to the above and they're absolutely superb tools.

I have spent thousands on tool over the years and have found these JIS tools a rip off. Most people are shocked that I still use PH1, 2 and 3 and find they do the same job, even on the end of a torque wrench.
Even Ash had to agree with me that the PH is a very good fit.
The only time I have trouble getting a JIS machine screw out is when someone else has had a go before me.
And bloody cheap >>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-Screwdriver-Screw-Bits-25mm-S2-Grade-Steel-1-4-inch-Various-Types-/181247177367?var=&hash=item2a332c7297:m:mKYZ1QBnqZ27KWZ-3ulcVtQ

I agree Trig, I would add that a PH2 fits better with the tip ground off a tadge.

Isn't that what a grinder is for ?  ;D

Is that "a grinder" or just "grinder" because that changes the whole context about what shape fits best.

Bought a set of these last week and they are a far better fit than any phillips screwdriver, even the ones with the ground tip i have been using for years, so now my ruined phillips ones will be consigned to the bin.

Like to see how you fit those screwdriver on a torque wrench.

Never used a JLS screwdriver in my life, like Trig a PH2 ground down on the tip worked just fine. I also found the Snap-On PH2 socket worked really well, although I did break the tip on a few of them using an impact driver with them, free replacement and they never asked how I'd broke it  :)
This is where you are getting wrong, If you try jis and not jls you will find there is a difference🙂

A ph2 will never fit a jis screw better than a jis screwdriver no matter how much hope you put into it.

:-) I like to precision grid an Ingot of Unicorn shyte to my own unique interpretation of the JIS standard. Then send my engines to Graham to rebuild. Simple.

:) so was i? who kicked the ball in the long grass
so to add fuel to the fire i just undone a 17 mm tappet cover by hammering a 16mm open ended spanner on it lol
that says a lot about  JIS tools init
Japanese Industrial Standard means nothing in my garage  ;)

Why are tappet covers so, so tight. It is only two full turn thread and with a O ring. I had one once that it didn't matter how much heat, metrinch socket on a breaker bar, it would not budge. Ended up drilling it out, maybe should of tried a JIS Screwdriver on it first  ;D ;D

Maybe a JIS screwdriver would have removed the seized centre stand pivot easily.  ;D

My oil gallery plug will only loosen if I hammer a 1/4" whitworth socket over the end. Maybe because it's plumbing.
