Funny you say that, as I took a screen shot of the below from David Silver last year, says aftermarket, but marked NGK, and they were red, now I can't find the red ones, only black on their website;

They are called aftermarket because they are different to the original fitment. Original plugcaps had those horrible metal shrouds which shorted like crazy when it rained. Were original caps supplied by Nippon Denso?
DSS wouldn't sell fake NGK plug caps deliberately,  I'm sure. EBay sellers are a different matter. 🤔

Maybe regulations have changed since the Seventies and the rim size has to be stamped on the side.
Other makes put them there too. ☹

Memories of jumping out of the back of the Bedford CF van before it had come to stop with a hand crate in each hand have been brought back to when I was a loon! I remember getting braver and braver until I over cooked it and yes there was glass and milk and me lying on the road. Had to endure the wrath of the boss man then who was the driver. The other thing I remember clearly was Sat delivery was double order and money collection day too. In them days (early seventies) customers rather than get a knock on the door would just leave the money on the doorstep either in an envelope or just loose change in empty bottles. Just seemed to be the norm then and never heard of any money going missing. Must be about 30 years since we lost the glass bottles here, not much “chink” with plastic!😂 Changed days!😳😁

My mum is 89 and still insists on putting out cash for her milkman. She puts out notes for more or less milk as well. It must drive the milkman nuts. Most of his customers pay by direct debit but mum refuses to do that! 😂

Johnny, on your iPhone can you change the camera resolution to a smaller file size? 3mb or less and they will then post ok. 🤞

Would it be worth getting a smaller gauge?

Where did you get it from? I can only find big boxes of it that are £35+

Look on ebay or amazon for a small box of various thickness Plastigauge. That's what I bought for mine. It had small quantities of Red, Green and White if I remember correctly.

The sprag clutch only fails if you regularly turn the bike over with a weak battery. My dad's 1200 trophy was fine with over 85k on the clock. I had one fail on the Aprilia after I neglected the battery. So I've learnt my lesson and never attempt to start a bike that's stood for awhile without giving it a quick top-up

Trouble is, buying one now you don't know what the previous owners have done with it. That's why you need to have a good check of the starter.

Soak it in lots of releasing oil- WD40 will do if you have nothing else. Use heat on it as well if you can.
It may take a few days but keep trying.

The 400 has filter gauzes fitted inside the tank. If they are fitted and not damaged you don't need the problems caused by fitting a second filter.
