I always wondered about the size difference in the 2 bikes so putting them side by side the 550 is so much bigger and heavier even the seat is wider , does anyone know why the 400 was small in size.
-
Because the 400 was produced as a sports bike, its smaller. All the sports bikes of the day from other manufacturers were small as well.
They both look lovely Dave

We always reconed the 400 was designed for Japanese short arses and the UK lady riders(takes refuge behind the battlements!)

Oh dear Bryan lets hope Julie dont read that ;D ;D

Ha, bloody ha ;D ;D ;D
I'm not tall but my feet sit flat on the floor when I'm on the 400, the 500 and 550 its heels off the ground on those and the 750, its tip toes only :'(
I think the funniest thing was the 400 being sold in the USA, most bike riders there look like huge giants even on 750's, on a 400 it looks like they are riding a gnat.

I had a mate Julie and the only bike he had that didn't make him look like a monkey on a greyhounds back was the Yamaha xs1100 ;D ;D
