I carefully dressed the damage on my old one and re-used it, it will probably do better than originally, as I am now well aware of the need to keep an eye on camchain adjustment.
Note for Nurse Julie: Dressing refers to careful use of a file or similar, NOT gauze,lint and bandages as you would normally think lol:))
And no clothing was subject to cruelty during the dressing operation----------Ken

Hi, Over the years I have gained 2 different retail sets the right size for the 400/4 bore, but unfortunatly although the bore size was OK, the "depth" is two long and useless on the short length of stroke, as already stated, it is fairly easy to use the existing taper on the bores, even dress the taper a little, and rock the pistons into place, especially when the engine is out of the frame and easy to handle.

Hi Lobo, The positions are for the 400f so the 400-f2 "pinlining" is not shown, as for the side panels, it looks as if the larger version matches the 400f side panels, perhaps another member can verify if the two models had different side panel logo's, as the tanks are obviously different-ie pin-lining. Ken

Hi, Standard bore is 51mm, best to measure that, but with a piston at 50.8mm, it looks like standard sizes.

Hi Cloudancer, I spent loads of money a long time ago, as advised by tuning shop, the clutch was standard honda 400/4 with heavy duty springs.

Hi Cloudancer, Balanced nitrided crankshaft, Carillo conrods, yoshimura pistons, supposedly good up to 16000 rpm, cam-chain becomes weakspot, even with heavy duty chain!

Hi Cloudancer I too have built several 400/4 engines over the last 40 years, including my present one built to run at up to 1200rpm, knowledge of and costs off overhauling these engines on this forum is as good as it gets, and have you owned and maintained one for 35 years-I have. A sense of humour also helps on this site and the ability to grin and bear criticism also helps!

Hi, Translation problems perhaps, newly re-furbished sounds better, even if they have used poetic license, but £2000 to Dover is a lot of lolly.
