I fitted that oil pump kit too from Elan?  It works well and no oil drains into sump overnight

Do you by any chance have the details of this kit. Web address, part numbers etc. Been searching for these parts for 12 months now. Thanks.

Adds have been retitled now, think he might be lurker? Quite like those 125s . That ones too much money already though.
Imagine being a lurker and reading the mauling we've given him and his bikes. ;D
Serves him right he should have signed up and got some real help and advice first.

Plus 1 with Oddjob, looks like a 650 frame and running gear with a 550 engine. The other bits could be off anything?

Who should we do next? ;D

Did the tune-up work on the 350F this afternoon.

Checked the timing with a strobe lamp and it required no adjustments at all. With the engine warmed the tickover was at a steady 1100rpm. Vac gauges on and the picture tells the story. Just a very minor increase required on cylinder 1. Guess the static settings I did were pretty good.

Had a ridiculous last minute problem that has caused some minor damage to the plastic bulb holder on the 'idiot light' console. I got four new bulbs from DSS that fitted perfectly. They should be 3W at 12 V, the ones they sent me (that stupidly I didn't check) were 3W at 6V. They got so hot they melted the bulb holder. So changed the bulbs for 12V items and its good for now. Got new parts on the way, not too bothered as the harness was a bit tatty anyway. Caused a lot of smoke though. I should have guessed something was wrong as the indicators flashed too fast, that's right now.

It should be finished tomorrow with a bit of luck.

Don't know who the manufacturer is, but they appear to have the seam welds sorted. Wonder if any better CB350F pipes will appear? Lovely looking bike, and having the correct pipes makes all the difference.

As you can see, it started that fast it took me by surprise.

I was expecting to have to crank it for a while (although I did crank it with the cutout switch off to prime it a bit). Still got to strobe the timing and check the advancer, then balance the carbs. Was very surprised it settled to a very steady 1000rpm tickover without any adjustment whatsoever. I don't think its going to require very much tweeking to get it spot on. Think I may have got the carb rebuild correct second time around.

It's a bit quieter than I was expecting. It sounds on the video like its noisy but that's the camera's mike inside a concrete garage. There is absolutely no mechanical noise from the engine at all. That was the biggest surprise after doing two 750's that rattle like a bag of spanners.

Tank and seat next, them polish off all the millions of oily hand marks. Will post some pictures of the finished thing soon.

Cheers all.

Hi all. Been a while since the last update. Have had to remove and rebuild the carbs a second time. Also had to change the cable quadrant as it was worn out. Well that's all done now and the carbs are back on the bike with the cables fitting perfectly, and the petrol staying where it should be. BryanJ was right it was to do with the setting up.

Sorted a few last remaining bits and finally its time for engine start.

Just by chance Alan (Mctid) was calling round with his 750K4 engine so decided to wait until he got here before the big event. Somebody to man the fire extinguisher. ;D Anyway now Alan the 'glamorous assistant' has arrived its time for the main event. I would like to say I wasn't nervous but that would be a lie.

So here it is, give you all a good laugh if nothing else.

I should say looking at the video that I need to loose some weight. Fat t**t. ;D

It was simply advertising.

A friend of the seller made a bid of - say 6000 - and they simply waited.
No one did a bid that high so the seller didn't sell.(Well he did, but to his friend).
And in the end they both tell ebay that no transaction has been done (for any reason whatsoever) so they don't have to pay the selling fees.

And in about a couple of months the seller puts it up for sale again.

Thats 'working' ebay in your favour.
I dont think DK's would be bothering with that. Pretty sure this is sold.

Somebody has stolen that. Looking at the price of restored K0's, less than 4k? Doesn't look like it needs too much doing either.

CB750 / Re: 750 Weldless Frame Kit
« on: December 13, 2015, 12:56:12 PM »
Not sure my fix was what you are looking for as it required a fair pile of welding. Easy for me to do as I have a TIG welder in the workshop. You can see the results on this thread   http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,8188.msg53869.html#msg53869  It wasn't a bought in package, all home made. Works very well though.

The reason I didn't go with the bought in kit was that I couldn't find one that retains the triangular cross bracing. They say it doesn't need it, but in reality that triangular piece adds a lot of torsional strength to stop the steering head rotating in relation to the swingarm pivot under cornering load. They say racers run these frames without the bottom tube in (to ease engine access at the track), but race tracks don't have British Gas road reapairs and general maintenance neglect mid corner. Honda didn't fit the bracing for a laugh, its there for a reason.

I would be hesitant to fit one of those kits without the bracing.

Wow. I haven't seen it that cheap in years £3.18p each if you buy 12. Good find James. This is the stuff to use guys, and don't forget the cart load of patience.

Brute force does not work on these retainers guys, you will just destroy the hub.

This is probably the only application that WD40 isn't good for. You need genuine PlusGas Easing Fluid along with heat and a huge pile of patience.

PlusGas is like a magic bullet to stuck mechanicals. Been using it for years, and its the best out there.

No I'm not selling it before anyone asks. ;D
