Title: Need these forks identifying please.
Post by: Honda Brat on August 31, 2011, 07:38:40 PM
OK tried the site on the side of the pond, no good, so let's see if us in blighty can do the do?

35mm stanchions, 32" length (from memory) and inverted allen top cap, dual disc.  Been told that they are CB750/900, then someone else said that they can't be as the 750 and 900s had air assisted forks and because the caliper brackets are quite low that they are more likely to be a CB400N?

thanks in advance  ;)

I was going to say "Superdream" before I read the rest of your post!

They look to me like CB900 of about 1980ish  era but that did have air caps I think (I had a w reg one) but can't remember exact details. The 750 version could have a slightly stripped spec and no air provision so it could be them.

The caliper brackets are quite low as the calipers were sliding type mounted onto fairly large brackets with the discs not really huge.

Looks like the black finish is original and I don't think super-dream had that.

I'll check some other details I have as well as they could even be SOHC 750 F2.

Just checked SOHC 750F2 originals and they have rings around the casting at the top of the sliders where the seals are, Also, I've just measured them at 29/30 inches spindle centre to top.

That doesn't seem to match these, so think they are more likely to be CB900/750 or later for sure.
