Title: Optimate do I need to disconnect the battery
Post by: Spitfire on October 30, 2018, 11:49:05 AM
As the title says, normally when I bed my bike down (CB750F1) I disconnect the battery from the leads and fit the Optimate cables, I have noticed on other bikes that the Optimate "tail" is permanently fitted to the battery for a quick connect. Is this safe ?

Cheers

I have my optimate connected directly to my battery which is permanently fitted to my Fireblade.
Haven’t had any issues. One thing I did add is one of those plug in RCD’s between the 13amp socket and the power lead.

The battery will last less than a week due to the alarm if I don’t use it.

I have the Optimate "tails" permanently connected to both my CB750 (K2) and Cb500 (K1) and have done so for many years. To date, no problems with this arrangement.

No problem.

I have an easily accessible charging socket permanently hard-wired to the battery and just plug the charger straight in as required.

Thank you all for your answers, I think I have a job for tomorrow now, it will make it easier just to unplug the bike and go if we get a dry but sunny winters day.

Cheers
