Nope, only semi synthetic Pete, after running in on Mineral.

Probably get clutch slip with fully synthetic.
Whilst we're talking oil, 0/40 or 20/50 for the 400?

Hi Julie,
Without bringing up the great sohc oil debate, is the oil you use motorcycle specific.

Nope, but it to Hondas specification. It says its for petrol and diesel cars, turbo and non turbo, light goods vehicles and motorcycles. Produced by Dinosaurs poo and rotting vegetation, its been around for millions of years 😀😀😀

I can't see any provable barrier to using "synthetic" oils in these engines, and it's nothing really to do with the "how slippy is that stuff " angle that's usually given as reason not to.
To place an inverse question about it; if you had to protect for the long term the camshaft and any associated bearing surfaces ( taking into account that some of those components are probably going to be ultimately not available), or protecting the clutch (which are available as consumer replacement) and also a pizza-pizz to replace rather than an engine rebuild, which would you favour?

See this post Pete....it's in the Black Bomber section, so you may have missed it.

I generally use a full synthetic in the Hornet 900, and was planning on a semi-synth for the F2 when she is done. Mainly because I intend to hammer it a lot less, riding the bike for pleasure rather than commuting through London traffic...which the Hornet has to endure.

You old boys worry too much ;D I have used the same trade oil for near on 3 decades and change the oil and filter every 1500 miles and have never had any problems whatsoever ;)
