Hi Folks,

What was your first motorcycle and what was your Worst motorcyle .........................

My first was a Yamaha FS1E, I went all over the place on that bike,  Darley Moor,Oulton Park, even to the I.O.M TT Races, all that ever happened to that bike was the plug would whisker up. If you decoked the exhaust baffle, head and barrel at regular times it ran sweet.

My worst was any black bike ........ black was/is an unlucky colour for me on a bike :-[ I had a new (Black) RS 250 Honda and the valve guides were knackered after 500 miles. When the engine was hot after a run, if you could not start it on the first or second attempt, then sweaty times were ahead... lots of bump starting, it could be a Bstard to start.

Cool Pictures,

Here I am at the 1978 T.T Races, Boy did I feel cool,  :D  I loved that bike, Wish I still had it ..... The fairing and Ace bars were Brill !!

The fairing allowed me to fit an actual "tick tock" clock into it. The ammount of street cred it gave me with my mates ......... to actually be able to tell the time whilst posing, sorry I mean on the move was TOP !!!!  :D :D Time pieces on bikes now are common but then ...... I had to use one from a car which was huge but you could hide it's size under the fairing.

Sorry about the photo quality .

Thanks Steven400/4,

The work it's self was easy enough, Just fiddly, The brake cap was stripped /sanded back, primed and top coated and then a sticker applied which was lacquered over.

The Regulator was a little more problematic, I wanted to re plate the finish on the brite metal work but I didn't think the electrics would take kindly to dipping in a zinc plating tank, so I cut them back to bare metal with a scotch brite dollie, the removeable bottom setion was stripped in a acid salts pickling solution and to stop them rusting , I coated with lacquer. The black cover was dipped in vinegar to remove the rust and then sanded back to bare metal with the scotch brite dolly, primed and glossed over.

The little screws and washers were re plated. I had to re use the "green, black & white Sticker". For the rubber parts I have found that silicon grease brings these small rubber parts back to almost like new...... used this grease (sparingly) on the rubber Seats/ gaskets between the chrome base and the speedo / rev counter and was well pleased with the result.
