CB350/400 / 400/4 ignition timing
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:30:38 PM »
Good Evening to you all,

I'm about to change the points and condensers, then re do the ignition timing. any points to watch out for, and any tips on the ignition timing, Only ever done this on twins and used the fag paper method to great success but a 4 seems more "complicated".

I've read on this forum that the most "popular" method to use when timing these old fours is the static method, could anyone talk this process through for me ???.

Best Regards

Hi I live in Manchester UK. I have a '76 CB 400F. Had Bikes from 16years of age to mid 30s when job meant I needed 4 wheels. Also had a new baby to transport about and bikes had to go. :(
Recently got back in the saddle July 2008. Bought the 400 4 from the pages of Classic Motorcycle mechanics and boy is it good to be back!!!! ;)
Bike was mechanically sound but cosmetically lacking. I have been working on it ever since as well as enjoying the odd ride when its nice weather.
Found this forum and thought it would be good to chat to other like-minded people.
