Title: engine rebuild
Post by: blackthumb on December 14, 2006, 12:32:26 AM
i am getting ready to do a top and bottom end rebuild on my 77 cb550k, but cannot find any kits for it. can anyone suggest somewhere to look online? or does anyone know whether or not there are actually rebuild kits or if i will just have to buy the parts seperately?

What exactly are you trying to rebuild?

If it's just gasket sets then buy proper ones from somewhere like David Silver Spares (don't buy cheap eBay crap!)

If you are taking the top end off, you may as well change the cam chain and tensioner assemblies (DSS again)

If you are in the UK, I can put you in touch with an ex-Honda mechanic who ill give you chapter and verse (and part numbers)

If you are in the USA, go look at www.sohc4.net/forums and check the FAQs for my list of on-line suppliers.
