Nice one, dead jealous but hopefully on the way back to getting out on the bike, left thumb joint replace, now some rehab and then the throttle hand later in the year.

Cheers

Misc / Open / What happens if an exhaust mounting stud snaps off?
« Last post by Athame57 on Today at 10:48:17 AM »
I took my bike in today to have the oil pump seals changed and get a set of genuine Honda exhaust mounting studs fitted to replace the rust prone homemade junk currently in place.
The mechanic had to tell me he would only try so hard if any are very stubborn, lest they snap off. If that happened where would I stand though?

Fascinating, and amazing that it survived, though the full story would be even better.

Cheers

Interestingly, the combined float bowls are seperate in function, having discreet volume for each carb, but seem to be used as mounting to give structural component (later a dedicated carb "rack") along with a beam across the top of carbs to make a competent assembly.

Placement of anything PRE marketplace is, as I understand it, subject to tax and import regulation for which a temporary waiver is given, after which the item (s) have to be either removed from the country, or destroyed for disposal (being cheaper) to ultimately comply with their temporary import.

Guessing that some of these vehicles escape by someone hiding them away as they think it's too much of a waste, on a personal level, to really scrap them. Interesting that some are kept, understandable that the stories are deliberately obscured. Technically the IRS could still come for the demands of import be met, although out of time status likely to apply now. In taxman terms, they'd probably want to see it crushed  :)

I'm going to dismantle the points plate to clean it up. Ken is sending me some proper screws to replace the Allen Key Headed ones to prevent overtightening.

I agree David the main three back plate screws are pretty central. It the CB ones that are at the extreme end, I will see if there is a make on them when I strip down the plate.

All he had to say was that his big buddy Liz Hurley (read his autobiography) once sat on the seat and the price would rocket.  ;D

This celeb vehicle went for a packet

Yes it would have, sconnect th orange with white trace and light blue with white tace in the headlamp as they aint legal in UK. Just remember you need a 5/21 bulb in front indicator same as rear light
Thanks again Bryan, much appreciated.

I know it’s 101 stuff but you’re saying I need to change the current bulbs to the 5/21 when I disconnect the DLR?

Not necessarily, but realise you'll then have a total of 20kΩ resistance in a circuit... Personally I consider that a lot and it is not needed. The French manual, that has been composed in colloberation with Honda France, advises to replace plugcaps when they read 8kΩ or more. Claims made by some members of the international forum - and nowhere else! -that adding resistance is benificial for spark duration, have so far remained unproven. And even then it remains to be seen it will effect in better running.
