More info' required.
The stripping of my 400 4 is coming along but I have noticed what appears to be a couple of broken fitting points on the frame under the seat area. It looks like a some collars which were welded to the frame have broken or been removed as shown in pic'.
Anyone know what there as none my pictures of the frame show anything in that position.

Just checked my frame and I don't have any holes there. Mine is a '77 F2
I have a pic if you'd like it
Cheers

Not meant to have holes there. The PO probably drilled them for some reason. Just get them welded up as they are not required.

Is there a peg sticks up there to act as a helmet holder?

Helmet holder peg is further back and fixed to the side of the frame tube.
No holes in mine either - this section of the frame is normally covered by the tool tray and lid.
I take it the holes are only in the top of the frame tubes and don't go right through.
Maybe locating or mounting holes for something like a café seat unit.

Thanks again for the info' guys. Maybe someone bolted a tool tray or something in there, but it would seem that they're not important so I'll ignore them.

The holes look very similar to the ones I drilled for my cafe seat.

If my frame had holes like that I'd have them welded up. There may be stress points round by the holes which could lead to metal fatigue - as per de Havilland Comets

Maybe if you weigh 30 stones and jump off ramps ;)
