CB750 / DOHC CB750 / 900 Header compitibilty
« on: October 18, 2010, 05:26:08 PM »
Looking at various options to buy / fabricate tight fitting 4/1 system for my F2 cafe racer project. Love a yoshi pipe but hens teeth scenario applies (US sourced copy possibly an option)

If I go down the fabrication route, wandering about header pipes as starting point. SOHC 750 options limited but DOHC 750 / 900 more abundant. Pretty sure the answer is no but are these anywhere near compatible / easily tweaked?

Any advice appreciated.

CB750 / 750F2 First ride at last.
« on: July 26, 2010, 07:11:03 PM »
At last got round to riding my F2 for the first time yesterday. Bought it last Feb. via adds section of this site. Had it running (ish) when I got it but never ridden it until yesterday.

Wow what a culture shock!!!!!  -  but good in other ways.

My other bike is a CBR600, against which the old 750 is out performed in every way as you would expect. However I do like the lazy way the F2 rides. In a funny way if you know it won't really perform by modern standards, you don't try - just enjoy it in other ways.

I was really just giving the bike a try out before strip down / cafe racer treatment in the future. Gearbox / clutch etc. fine, carburation understandably lumpy after standing a few years and I know ignition not 100%. Anyway good fun and can't wait to get stuck into it but I know this will be the winter realistically.

CB750 / CB900 / 750 swing arm compatabilty??
« on: March 14, 2010, 07:39:34 PM »
More cafe racer thoughts for my F2.

I seem to recall swing arm on the CB900 was more or less the same as 750 sohc. Thinking of aftermarket item such as Metamex etc?

Anyone know?

CB750 / K series tanks similarities
« on: March 03, 2010, 05:24:58 PM »
Can anyone tell me if the basic shape of any K series tank shapes are the same. I appreciate decals etc will vary. Thinking specifically of K2 and K5 models but interested in general interchangability.

Any advise much appreciated.

PS can hold my head high on the site now as I actually now have a sohc Honda. Bought the 750F2 advertised on this site in Feb. It is now sitting gathering dust while I plot cafe racer and find the time!

CB750 / F2 MOTORS ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY AOUT THEM?
« on: December 22, 2009, 09:04:15 PM »
During my search for a 750 to buy, there are all too many comments on this site to warn against them for "chocolate motors"

Is this always the case or can they be reliable? Is poor reliability allied to lack of correct maintenance.

Appreciate any comments.

CB750 / Smaller disc alternative spoke wheels CB750 project ideas
« on: December 12, 2009, 10:02:43 PM »
Thinking about ideas for 750 SOHC cafe racer I want to build.

I like the idea of subtle modifications and I am thinking of larger single disc / modern caliper at front. Also although F1 / F2 have rear disc, it is big and clumsy in my mind and fancy a "token small disc" at rear / modern caliper.

Has anybody had experience of fitting more modern, later hubs from something like an Africa twin trail bike and lacing them to relevant rim to suit the 750? I am thinking this would give more scope for alternative discs? I appreciate there would then be the normal problems of calipers mounting /  lining up discs, which could be a bit easier with opposed pistons in newer caliper?

CB750 / WANTED CB750 for project.
« on: December 09, 2009, 09:46:07 AM »
Hi,

I am a new member with the SOHC bug. I want to build a cafe racer based on 70's K series. I want to retain early side panel / oil tank cap look combined with extended tank. Will consider F models but spoked wheels important and tank would be non starter as I want the "chrome filler".

Will consider anything with the right potentail and good motor.

Thanks

Hi,

Just joined the site having got the need to revisit my teens.

I live in Derbyshire and currently have a CBR 600 which is great but got the need to return to my teens. My first real bike was a 500 four. Been thinking of getting an early Honda four again for a while to renovate. Having seen some brilliant cafe racer creations, I fancy a crack at one!

Planning to build a 750 based bike. Want to incorporate looks of earlier k2 - k6 but struggling to find a bike at the right money - if at all unless already restored.

Consequently I have been looking at F1 and F2 models, but would want to use earlier tank and sidepanels. Will these simply interchange?

Is the basic frame the same?

Would definitely be looking at using wire wheels as opposed to alloys on an F2 I have seen - straight swap?

Told the F1 / F2 motors were slightly more pokey too - not really important to me, but is this the case.

Great site, look forward to any help offered.
