Yes nurse, what ever you prescribe! - as below.  Would still like to know from those more gifted than I how I insert a PDF document.

(I have responded to the letter below  on behalf of the forum per earlier post today )

Dear Motorcycle Club Organiser,

On Sunday the 2nd of July 2017 a 'Classic Motorcycle Day' is being held at the National Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire, which is being jointly organised by the Vincent Owners Club (East Midlands Section) and the Crich Tramway Village, home to The National Tramway Museum.

The Tramway Museum is a charitable organisation mainly run by volunteers and several years ago they held a similar event which we, like them, are very keen to see run again. We also want it to be as big as possible and to run it every year.

The reason I am writing to you, is to invite your club to this event along with your motorcycles, with the aim of getting as many motorcycle clubs there as we can. That way the public can see a wide range of motorcycles and the various club members can network as they normally do.

The event is open to motorcycles built prior to January 1992 and entry is free for any rider and their classic motorcycle, provided that they are booked in advance, and this includes free access to the whole museum.  Pillion passengers and support crew will have to pay for entry, either at a one-off group rate or they might consider paying full rate which then entitles them to free re-entry to the museum for 12 months.

A designated area of the main car park will also be allocated for more modern motorcycles and parking is free.
The event is being held outside on mostly paved or cobbled areas, so no matter what the weather your motorcycles will be on solid ground.  We will also be submitting a request for glorious weather but unfortunately we cannot guarantee it.

Once you decide your club is attending the event or not, it would be useful, for planning purposes, to know an approximate number that will be attending.  Pre-booking is essential and facilities for this will be available early in the New Year.

You can notify us either by letter to;
The National Tramway Museum, FAO Gordon Burch, Crich Tramway Village, MATLOCK, Derbyshire. DE4 5DP
or by email to: gordon.burch@tramway.co.uk                                   Telephone: 01773 854361

We look forward to hearing from you and are hoping to stage a great classic motorcycle event.

Yours Sincerely

Jon Lambley

The Vincent Owners Club (East Midlands Section)

I have emailed the organisers to say we will be attending. A count of us expressing an interest came to 14! I have referred to numbers as 10 -15 and said this may change either way. We need to firm numbers up in the new year.

Any more interested???

I will keep the forum posted on this. In the mean time, please find copy of their letter emailed to me.

Tricks & Tips / Re: Front brake service / set up 400/4 advice please

Well caliper rebuilt with stainless piston / Honda seal. System fushed with meths and blown through with airline to dry out any residual meths before filling with silicone brake fluid. Caliper now very free and brake actually works. Still not brilliant but will look at other system components when resto starts.

I was amazed by the amount of oxidation etc in the seal grove. Accompanying picture shows the crap cleaned from this small area alone! (hope this works its the first time I've tried to insert an image in a post)

Anyway was able to ride it and check gearbox etc. All seems ok so no real worries before resto starts in the new year.

Thanks again for helpful tips.

Other Bikes / Re: CB250RS metal finishing

No idea re finish but always really fancied one of these and always half looking. They always get good reviews. Is it a bike you rode previously, what was it like?

Told common issues included lack of oil changes / knackered head and chain life not good.

I must admit I was amused like Ash at this when the vendor popped up. Fair do's and welcome, good you had the chance to  protest your innocence!

A really educational post to follow for the trainee anorak. How exciting! ;)

I think your attitude is admirable. Sure I am like most here - if it ain't economical to repair, chuck it and buy a replacement.... In your case you can't replace your dad's history. Stick at it, credit to you! Your girl will be so proud of you! (should read even prouder I'm sure!)

CB750 / Re: 836cc kit choices - do I need a new cam?
« on: November 22, 2016, 05:30:49 PM »
RE BHP I used a big bore kit on my my DOHC 750, taking  out to 823cc + cams + flowed head and carb mods. Gave 95 BHP at rear wheel after proper dyno set up at TTS. Big percentage gain over 78 BHP ish (at crank) for stock I think?

Keeping in mind you are talking SOHC / 8v, therefore poorer breathing and less output to start with, something less than the 95? Not very scientific I know....

It did transform my bike both in terms torque and top end but yes to get all the bits working together it is a big expense to consider....

If time allows I will sort next weekend. Just want to be able to get it to stop this side of Xmas (if I apply the brakes now -per Julie  ;D). As I say, just a pre resto shake down. If cant get it acceptable short term, recon I will go for a stainless piston and genuine seal per ebay link below.  Anyone here used them?
