CB750 / cb750 carbs
« on: June 12, 2012, 11:45:30 AM »
Hi all,
I still have not got her right and do not really what to do next suggestions please.
Starts like a normal 750 full choke knock it off quick runs fine.Get it hot ticks over OK rev the engine idles nicely. The thing is I can not get the air screws out past 1/2 turn.If I turn them in one at a time it starts revving as Its riching up turn back out 1/2 turn idles nicely again but the plug colour is white, lean I think.I have checked float heights numerous times and can not get it any better.Should I try 42 slow jets, that's if I can find some? The motor is all stock including carbs jets etc.I would live with it but after reading topics here and elsewhere I am paranoid about the colour of the plugs. It seems no matter what I do I can not get it to run on the rich side.
Cheers

Waggles cheers for that yes it does work only saw as I was messing with carbs and as it happens after posting this I found a new one in a box of bits and just finished fitting it.
The x head screw was a bugger to get out apart from that sorted now.

Hi all,
Has anybody got a fix for where the cable goes on to for opening throttle apart from the obvious?
Sorry for the photo but you can see one side has broken off.

Bluemouse,

From cold you start with choke?Does she rev with choke on?Sounds to me carburation problem mine wont idle until warm to hot .Check colour of the plugs black too rich white weak,Mine also jerks about for a couple of minutes then fine.Hope this helps.

If Rob is right about the part number on one off my old postings I mentioned a site www.econohonda.com for old parts he has got 4 secondhand ones might be worth an email to him.I have used them with no problems via paypal.
Good Luck

Thanks Tomb,
I have a 2005 yam xjr1300 and my local agent has posters all round his shop saying yamaha France does not recommend it.Also a moto club magazine here did a topic showing what happened to a Z1 in a small time period overheated.seized pistons and cream krackered all the rubber o rings and tubes on the carbs.I do hope you are right it being hype.

Hi Guys.
Just noticed today at my local supermarket they now sell this crap SP95 E10 fuel.I know its been discussed on other sites before but what do you use when they faze out the 98 fuel? Will our classics become museum pieces in the next 5 years? Here in France they are fazing it out in the next 2 years.Your comments please and what is happening with fuel in the UK.
