I just refitted the carbs and found the best way fit the intake side to the carbs was to take out the air filter box and battery holder. That leaves a big hole and after much industrial terminolgy and plain brute force I squeezed that into place, (Don't try this if you value the frame paintwork!) but then I've found I'm missing a mounting bracket from the front of the air filter box. I can't find any on line and rather than resort to a couple of cable ties if anyone has one spare and would like to exchange it for some beer tokens please let me know. Ta.

Hmmmm...take your point, but DS's price for these pipes are a bit heavy and as I've already spent the next year's holiday fund on the bike maybe someone suggest an alternative? While I have the carbs on the bench I want to statically set the mixture screws and sync the carbs. Any recommendations on this?

Between the 2 pairs of carbs where the spring is there are 2 vertical pipe fittings and I don't have anything connected to them. Should I have?
Cheers, Bob

Just done 2 of these. Clamped the bowls in the Workmate, heated them with a gas torch for a few seconds but kept the flame moving. Used the largest screwdrive I've got and eventually they came free but needed replacing because the slots are soft, shallow and easily damaged.

Didn't see that thread and certainly no offence intended. Sympathy to his friends and family.

Touch mawkish to assume the guy has died without confirmation don't you think! Maybe he has gone to a better place, another bike forum perhaps?

Had a Thruxton Bonneville back in the early 1970's which I loved and a Hinckly Thunderbird Sport which I didn't. Swapped it for a Kawasaki W650 which was what the Bonneville could have been.

As its not exactly a closed system surely any effect on carburation caused by the inlet stubs not being glued in would be insignificant?

Mine aren't stuck and I noticed that the 2 outer ones have a pip on the edge and there is a similar one on the airbox. I assume that they are supposed to line up?
