Hey everyone!
Bit of a puzzle for you; can you spot the difference?

New one on the left. The guy I bought it from assures me it was from a honda dealer. Could the lack of holes be a defect, and what if anything should I do about it?

That will be a oil feed hole ;)

Yeah I thought so too. Why would they make one without them? Can I still use it on the cb500?

The original cog never had a hole, not sure if they superseded it for any reason. Just looked all the cogs I have of that type and not one of them has a hole.

Maybe it was for the 550 which does pump oil to the transmission. Anyway guess I'll have some lunch and back to the assembly :)

What part is it? If you have a parts number, even better so I can look it up. In the Parts List for my model, the CB500K2 (ED, F, G), it's clear the GEAR, COUNTERSHAFT (TOP 27T) is different from earlier models and it's the only transmission part that has a -374- number (23491-374-000). The CB500(K0), the CB500K1 and the CB500K2 (A) till no. 2150032 had 23491-286-030. From no. 2150032 on the latter also had the newer 23491-374-000. My guess: the one with the hole is the newer.

It was sold to me as a 23491-374-000. Apparently the -000 is the original factory designation and other numbers are something else?

The man knows sod all about numbers, first number is the part, middle number is the model(374 is 550) first used on and the last number is area or supersicision
