Oddjob did a small amount of PCB work at college and you paint on a protector to keep the tracks you want and etch the rest away

Used to see that sort of damage regularly on CB175 and the K3/4 250's if the engine was "thrashed" from cold, nearest explanation i got was from a man called Stan Dibbden who was the NGK rep and used to race sidecars a loooong time ago, he reconed that it was differential expansion when haeted too quick nipping the rings and shattering them. These broken bits then worked there way out of the grooves and got hammered into the head.

As to how good he was I was servicing a two stroke 250, cant remember Suzuki or Yamaha but he picked up the plugs and examined them with an eye glass and told me to take the heads off as a piston was about to hole, he was right! and the plugs looked a good colour as well

If oil did not come out of there with the engine running I would be very worried that the top end would sieze

Do you need the complete bracket or just the decal?

The only one I did many years ago came in as a part ex for something and was in a poor cosmetic state but cheap in order to put right with new genuine bits, should have guessed mechanics would be as bad!. I borrowed it to go to the TT as is and noticed in Liverpool it had used some oil, about 350mpp but came home early having gassed an IOM plod on mad Sunday (Max 99mph and 150mpp oil). I stripped it expecting bad pistons and rings but, eventually, found very bad exhaust guides and 2 stem seals broken with lots of oil in exhaust ports(inlet OK) ordered and fitted Honda parts from Fowlers(no idea if same or delta) borrowed a reamer from the local dealer, grinding paste on valves(lucky they came out OK) after re building, along with many cycle parts put on showroom floor sold quickly and never seen again.

Early K3 could have been built in late 72 and that does say 10/72 so add on shipping time and it would be for sale in 73

I have found glaring mistakes in the Haynes manuals (specially brit models), but as you say also in genuine ones. Haynes are a good low price manual for the person who does his own regular maintenance but need to be read alongside a "real" manual for a full rebuild

If it don't smoke and does more than 350 miles per pint of oil the guides have been done or it is so low a mileage they havent worn out yet. PD carbs need regular use(more than once a week)

When I used to deal direct with craven most of the racks were the same with just different fitting kits for the actual bike, until the 750 F1 came along then they made a hinging top as the seat was so long
