Hi, newbie here!
It's a few years since I had my CB750 and I'm hoping to collect my 1978 CB550F2 on Sunday.
I had a test ride yesterday and the carbs need balancing and the cam chain is rattling quietly.
I've not got a manual yet so could some kind person remind me how to tension the cam chain.
I've had a quick look and on the back of the block at the bottom there's a locknut and screw and further up there's a bolt.
I seem to remember the engine is set to 15 degrees after TDC but not sure what to do with the bolts.
Many thanks.

Dave, if nobody with a 550 tells you the procedure I

Thanks Dave.
Seems very easy. Keep you posted.

Right.
I loosened the locknut as instructed but the bolt turned as well. I can't get a screwdriver on the slot either.
I've looked at the manual and can't see how the tensioner actually works. Does it matter that the bolt turns with the nut?

Sorted!
I kept turning the nut and after about half a turn the setscrew stopped turning and the the nut loosened. The setscrew was nice and loose as well.
Nipped it back up again and started the engine. As quiet as a 15k mile motor should sound!
Well pleased.
