Humour / Re: The way forward 😂😂😂
« on: April 30, 2023, 01:01:34 PM »
When Spike Milligan was in the Army in WWII, he attached a pushbike inner tube to his willy so that he didn't need to get up for a pee in the field at night. He tied the other end with a piece of string and when he got up he emptied it.

All was well until one of his 'colleagues' untied the piece of string while Spike was asleep...........

(Yep, I know all about 2 hours on and two hours off doing Guard duties out in the field....but it's still a good story).

Member 4 Sales / Electric Scooter For Sale.....
« on: April 27, 2023, 01:30:01 PM »
My next door neighbour has a Kingday Intelligent Technology 'E Rider' Electric Scooter which has been sitting unused in his garden for a year or so.

It's nothing to do with me, but it might be of interest to Forum Members as he only wants about £400 for it. I would think the Battery will be U/S as it's been sitting for so long....I have no idea what a new one costs, what fitting a replacement entails, or even if they are available.  The rear shocks are rusty, and some of the other bits need a good clean up, but I doubt if it's seen much mileage in its short life.....so it might make a good shopping runaround or a first bike for a Teenager.

The Registration mark is PO67FSZ if you want to check it out with DVLA. I can't see what the mileage is or how powerful the Battery is, so you will have to make your own enquiries.....please remember I have nothing to do with this sale, I'm just passing it on to Forum Members as my neighbour is a decent bloke.

I live in Lytham St Annes in case anyone wants to view it.....message me if you do.

Leave the lad alone....he stopped twice for directions, twice for coffee and cake, and once to go and pick his Kids up from school while he was scribbling his advert !

You need to go on some of the US Bike Forums if you like a really good laugh though.................

When Ford bought out Jaguar they were looking at the V12 Crankshafts being machined in the Jag factory. By the side of the Grinding Machine were skips containing Crankshafts......quite a few of them. "What are these Cranks" ? was the question......"Oh....these are scrap" !!!!!!!

Amazing how that bloke does what he does.....even more amazing that he's still got both hands and all his fingers (and toes) !

Just my two pennyworth regarding Insurance.

From my recent dreadful experience, DO NOT GO ANYWHERE near Grove & Dean Insurance Brokers.

Long story, but in all the years I have been buying Insurance (since 1966), this outfit is the worst I have ever encountered. They insist that customers are open and honest in their dealings, yet they don't seem to think those criteria apply to themselves !

Happy to explain in detail if anyone wants more info - but I'd rather you just take my word and look elsewhere..........

Mmmm that struck a nerve.......many years ago I owned a Triumph Stag. At the time it was the most beautiful vehicle in the world in my eyes. Pimento red and an exhaust note to die for....my eldest Daughter never said no to a drive out on a summers evening (sadly, her Mum and Daughter Number Two could never be that arsed) and the smile on her face was always worth all the aggro that bloody car caused me. 30+ years on and we still have that connection and that bond that anybody who doesn't understand it - will never understand it. Later today, she's being sworn in as a Magistrate and she can invite one Guest....that Guest is me. Not her Husband or one of her 3 Kids or any of her lifelong pals....me ! I'd like to think that bloody temperamental, awkward, cantankerous Stag is a big reason why she has asked me to accompany her. That bond we forged back then is unbreakable and it's held fast over some difficult dilemmas since. She's the most sensible person I know and her abundance of common sense and decency makes me firmly believe that in the Family Division, she's going to make the right decisions - every time- when it comes to deciding whether the Kids from a broken marriage will live with their Mum or Dad - or whatever.

I digress......back then, I joined the Stag Owners Club and went to a couple of their meetings and one memorable one was a Sunday at Tatton Park.....it was a splendid summers Sunday afternoon and some of the Stags being judged were simply breathtaking.......the cost to make them awesome and the efforts their Owners had put into them was incredible, and as an Engineer, I was mightily impressed, although I could never hope to match their skills, dedication or budget. One fabulous car had been subject to a painstaking body off restoration and when It came to the judging, it came nowhere.....not even in the top 5. I couldn't believe it and I asked the Owner why it had failed to impress the Judges. It was because during the renovation, he'd wanted to protect his investment, so he'd had a professional apply an underbody Undercoat and injected all the rust traps with a suitable preservative. The Judges marked the car down because those 'safeguards' would never have been applied by the Factory !

Well, that was it for me...I never attended any more Stag Owners Club meetings and never bothered with anything they had to say or do again.

My 'two pennyworth' is that I certainly agree to having a dedicated section about 'alternative' power on our Forum......after all, there are some extremely smart people on here who I regard as being worth listening to.

In the next few years we are all going to have to make some important decisions, so the wider the debate, and the more 'unbiased' and accurate advice we can get, the better.

Personally at 72, there isn't much point in me investing in anything other than my 15 year old ICE Mondeo....as it's only covered 36K miles, but I'm sure there are many others who will welcome good advice as and when they are seriously thinking about what they should be investing in in the future.

Bring it on.

Other Bikes / Re: My next project?

Billy Big Bollox.

My 17 year old Grandson had an 'event' on his 125 Yamaha when a Woman pulled out in front of him when he was a Learner. His bike was 'fixable' and his other Grandad sorted out the minor dent in the Tank for him.

Grandson took great delight in bragging how his bollox were black and blue when they had smacked the Tank.

I sent him this photo of my Bonneville Tank and told him that 'He was just a ferking lightweight' !

I didn't tell him the Tank was like that when I bought the bike....and let him think I'd been riding it when the damage was done !

Age and cunning will always overcome youth and enthusiasm !

That's why we moved to sunny Lytham St Annes when I retired !

It's full of old fogeys who are in no rush to go anywhere....for every car you let out of a side road, there are two others who will do the same for you.

I rarely drive anywhere at weekends or Bank Holidays as I can go wherever I want on almost empty roads during the week when everybody else is at work......same with the bike.

I may be daft.....but I'm not stupid ! LOL.

When they have none in stock....the price defaults to a nonsense figure....just to stop any further enquiries. I suppose it has something to do with the Seller not having to end the 'Auction/ Sale' because they are out of stock and then having to redo the whole advert again when stock becomes available once more.
just my view of course...and I am often wrong....especially where VAR is concerned. I have to agree with the Spurs Manager Antonio Conte who said "How can they get the VAR decisions wrong....all they have to do is sit in front of a TV screen and see what happens and then make a decision'" !

Desperately Seeking!! / Re: Cb400f /cb550f front mudguards

Talking of posting stuff......here's a cracker. Got a Text on Saturday from Royal Mail to say my E Bay order of a Hosepipe Spray gun had been delivered and it had been signed for. Not true ! Said Spray gun actually arrived the following Monday morning and when the very nice Postwoman asked me to sign for it.....I opened the parcel in front of her to make sure it was said Spray gun. I told her that Royal Mail had advised me by E Mail that it had been delivered on Saturday.....but typically she didn't seem at all surprised !

Could the fact that Royal Mail are losing money have anything to do with the fact that they seem to suffer from 'Elbow and Arse disease' ? (as in the fact that they don't seem to know their elbows from their arses).

Desperately Seeking!! / Re: CB750 frame
« on: October 21, 2022, 08:01:57 PM »
Been there etc etc.
I had a Triumph Frame that managed to sit in Norwich for about a week......Lytham St Annes to Cornwall........quite how Norwich figures in that journey defeats me. That was Parcel Monkey....who can't/ won't do anything except tell you to complain to the actual Courier - as they are just an 'Agent'. I haven't used them since !

The latest was a Triumph Frame to Southend which 'disappeared' for a week and eventually surfaced looking like the Rear Frame Loop had been run over by a Road Roller......which I had to replace FOC. I gave up trying to get Parcelfarce to do anything as it was just giving me ulcers !

All I can say is 'Let the buyer beware'......use a reputable Courier, stick PLENTY of labels on your parcel and Insure it adequately as NONE of the delivery companies can be trusted !

Splendid 2007 Honda CB600F for sale. This has the Fuel Injected Engine from the Honda CB600RR (detuned, but it's still around 100 BHP) and ABS. It's a fabulous Bike and it's almost as new and as it left the Factory with only 1370 Miles now from me and one other Mature previous Owner who spoiled it rotten from new until a few months ago.

It needs nothing, has a long MOT and is ready to go. I bought it as I had a Hernia but now that's been fixed (fabulous NHS in Blackpool....Angels every one of them) I want to go back to a bigger bike so it has to go.

I'm asking £4250 for it as it's such a rare bike in this condition and with such low mileage, it really is like a new bike. Find another one like this if you can ! The Baglux Tank Cover and a Baglux Bag may be available if the asking price is met.

I'm near Blackpool and I might be able to deliver within a reasonable distance from me for a reasonable price. Ask me - I don't bite.

Hahahahaha I'd forgotten all about it as I went off on my cross Canada/ USA bike trip so I don't remember ! I doubt it though as we were almost coming to blows........each Workstation only had two compressed air lines (all the tools were air operated) and when drilling and riveting, we worked in pairs most of the time so more people either got in each others way, or we were standing around waiting for a specific tool/ air line to become free.

It was a monumental cock up to be honest which should never have happened.......there would have been no shortage of Airframe Fitters willing to work extra/ different shifts to get the job done.....it was one of the most dedicated workforces I ever encountered....we even had our own Flying Club with a couple of our own Aircraft and there was a lot of real pride in our Products.

As a footnote........I bet that particular DH Twin Otter is still flying today !
