Hello all,
I'm guessing a fully restored and good looking, but not original 400/4 is worth about £3,000. Does that sound right to you?
Those pesky insurance kids need to know.

Yes Drew. That sounds about right. I had the same question from the 12 year old at my insurance company a few days ago. You could say any figure you like really as they would never pay out the true value of the bike, they usually just right them off.
Good to see you posting again

Thanks Julie, much appreciated.

Saw this one on eBay yesterday, possibly a reasonable guide:

I too would have gone for the £3000 - 3500 mark.
Wonder what my unrestored and mostly original example is worth (insurance renewal next month)?
I'd guess probably in the same region.

Don't get me started on insurance. I have a Thundercat that is 107 Bhp and does 154 mph, the insurance this year was £66.71 went to renew my CD250U that has about 18 Bhp and only does 75 mph tops, and it was £65.80. That is like putting a Ferrari up against a Mini. Would not mind but, the cheapest was the CB750 at £57.50 two years ago.

And before anyone says it would be cheaper on a multi bike policy.......it's not. On the Multi bike policy the CD250 and the Thundercat is £175.80 !!!!!. Where's the logic in that ?.

;D ;D ;D ;D It's probably your age Trigger. They know your still a young whippersnapper. I got my 400/4 insured for about £70 TPF&T but for that I can also ride any other bike, only 3rd party but that's good enough for me. One you get older Graham and learn how to fill I the paperwork to your advantage, the cost will come down ; :o :o :o

For a 400/4 £86 fully comp with agreed value of £2400 and UK and European breakdown cover. Downside, not covered to to ride anyone else's bike. There is a mileage limit but I'm not expecting to hit that.
Got this from Peter James Insurance. I used to be loyal to Carole Nash but they wanted to penalize me by £15 because some idiot ran into the back of my company car at a roundabout a couple of years ago. I think that there may be further discounts for VJMC members.
