Title: 12V feed for Wireless charger
Post by: Bro550F on July 20, 2022, 04:06:33 PM
Hi,
As title says I'm hoping someone can tell me the best way to get a feed for my Quad Lock wireless charger from. I've currently (see what I did there?)  ;D, got it connected directly at the battery but obviously can't stay like that.
I want it to become live with the ignition on only.

Pointers to which wire and location please.

TIA

Neg to frame(or green wire) Pos to black wire at ignition switch

Depends on your exact model. My model has a blind black female connector not used in Europe because of a different wiring to the horn. I've used that one. So... again... identify your specific model (area code!) and then consult the appropiate wiring diagram.

Thanks guys.

Will look for a black wire close to where I want to mount.

On my model it is here (blue arrow in pic below). It is conveniently positioned close to the tool tray, where I keep my USB connection for when I need it.

Perfect, thanks.  Not checked yet but If I haven't got a spare female I'll join it to a convenient black.

Surely that connector is under the tank next to the coils, if the horn wiring is next to it that's where it will be. It was originally there to feed the horn IIRC as the horn was fed by the black wire and the light green earthed it but they changed the way the wired it and in effect reversed the wires, hence why there is a small earth wire with a green band around it.

When you zoom in at the connectors inside the headlamp bucket, you will see other blind female connectors for your device both BLACK and GREEN.

I did indeed find a spare black and green female bullet connectors, so snipped off my eye connectors and soldered 2 male bullets.
Job done, comes on with ignition.

Thanks all.
