Title: Ideas for attaching rear signal lights?
Post by: alexdecker on August 03, 2022, 11:12:24 AM
Hey all

I can't seem to source the original brackets and stems for mounting rear signals, so thinking about mounting some Motone bullet ones instead.

How have you guys gone about mounting third party rear signals? I would love to mount them the same place (the passenger grab bar), but am I supposed to mount it with some rubber in between, or what is the best way to go about it? Any experiences and advice is greatly appreciated.

And actually, same goes for the front, where I would like to mount same type signals as well.

Evening,
I have mounted a hoop on the back of the frame on my 550 which allowed me to fit the same indicators you’re looking at getting. I did a similar thing on the 400 I just finished so there’s room if you’re cunning and technically there’s more real estate on the 550 frame.

I have a small gusset piece in underneath so I had a bit more position room but it’s a straight drill through to the inner side of the frame,  a rubber grommet if you can find some that small and a nutsert or rivlock or what ever you call them and the wire goes through the middle, through the frame and runs down the back of the frame rail to where ever you need it to go. In my case I had an M unit fitted.
This is the back of the 550F2 (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220804/be93cbe2fc5ece34805b7187add203e6.jpg)

Thank you! I haven’t cut my frame, so was thinking of just using the passenger bar for mounting. Good point with the rubber grommets though!

Even if you don’t cut the frame you should have room to drill through with room to spare. This the back of the 400 and that’s a smaller area. I just mocked it up first and putting them here means they won’t grabbed or knocked as they would going on the rail or similar.

These are different indicators but the ones you have chosen are easier to fit.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220805/d2bbb67dba7de181d8ac5b225df6b49c.jpg)
Just in front of the shock mount at the top, I’m probably changing these but they’ll do for now
