Im no expert but mine's not far off as good looking and sparkley as that one, and it gets a ride out 2-3 times a week (weather permitting of course!!). Moved her into the conservatory today for the winter, central heating, tv, blablabla, I  like to tinker in comfort.  :-*

I had a slight clutch drag on 400 when I got it. Dont know what oil it had in it but changed oil and filter and used some oil my dad used to put in his Hilman Hunter back in the day, just loked on can (very rusty) and its castrol GT. Asda do Castrol 10/40 semi synthetic, so may have to use that next time. :-*

Welcome from Dungeness. Used to live the other side of the South Downs, on top of the hill in Crowborough. Now down at sea level, well under sea level at times !!!. The chaps on this forum are great, a good laugh and very knowledgeable. They advise me on fast idle speeds etc and I advise them on enemas and uses for Soda Bicarbonate for skin burns !!! Fair trade I think. Good to have you with us

Regards
Julie

Hi All
Yes to Soda Bic for Ash's Mum's remedy for burns. Good old fshioned remedy but not allowed as a treatment now due to Health and Safety and COSHH regs.It works by taking the heat out of the burns. Don't know if it would work on a rusty tank but Caustic Soda works well on my old sink pipes, so should work well on the inside of a tank. (just make sure you wear a mask and gloves as very caustic and fumes get right in your lungs) :-\

Hi All
Had a tinker today and bike idling just perfect now, it seems to be reving more freely too. Also re adjusted the mixture and she now feels very much like a flying machine.
Thanks for those that gave advice

Thanks to those of you that gave me some advice. It doesn't seem to loose power when hot, fly's along quite happily. Harold 400/4, I will look at the hose to make sure not kinked. And yes Bitsa, I am totally legit, no wind up. I'm a Nursing Matron who still see's the funny side of life. I have been a Nurse on and off for 34 years and have been riding bikes for 35 years. If people on this Forum want to have a laugh at my expense, that's fine by me. Just answer the question I ask as well and we will get on just fine. Must go now, on a night shift.

Hi All  :)

Just been for a great ride on the Honda 400/4. Starts really easily, rides great, runs great except when the engine is hot she won't tick over. Revs just go down and down and down and then cuts out.Ticks over fine when cold. Any simple solutions most welcome. Anything more than simple will have to wait till off the road in winter !!  :-*
