Title: Can a camshaft with some wear and pitting on the lobes be restored?
Post by: Athame57 on August 23, 2021, 11:08:05 PM
I've noticed for a longish while that ticking sound nothing can get rid of that tells me I may have a pitted cam lobe. ::) Saw the horrific price of a new (unavailable) one on CMSL ... 960 Euros listed.  :o Can a pitted cam be repaired?

A ticking sound may be pitted tappets or the springs on the rockers are located wrong side  ;)

If they are pitted try Newman Cams who are right on your doorstep in Orpington. They are very good and have reprofiled cams and followers for me on two occassions.

I can also vouch for Newman Cams, not on my CB750K2 but on my 38 Rudge on which they did the cams and cam followers.
