Title: caliper piston
Post by: cobra on March 09, 2011, 05:12:43 PM
removed the front caliper off my F1 today, the bike has been stood for the last 10 years, so i knew it was going to be fun. The way i managed, in the end, to remove the piston was, I fitted the short copper feed pipe, to the caliper, and then fitted my tyre foot pump to the other end of the pipe, it just pushes into the end of the pump, and clip the lever down to make a tight fit, then i pumped the presure up to 60 psi and heated the caliper with a butane torch, and pop it came out,(at speed) make sure you arn't in the line of fire. but it worked a treat.

Nice one cobra, that an interesting way of doing it , i have a master cylinder set up just for pumping out pistons, i just connect it up fill up with fluid bleed and then pump the lever and the piston pops out, i have done about 20 of them now even the very worst of worst just push out

Used a grease gun on one, worked fine, I think I got that one from the US site.

Cheers
