CB750 / A day off and an MOT
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:17:27 PM »
So today I take the Honda for it's MOT. 1777 miles since the last isn't bad....not great but not bad when you consider I have the Hoglett too.

Anyways it didn't fail but the side light and rear light only worked on the park position of the ignition switch. So this means I had no rear light. The brakelight worked just fine. The tester was quite happy for me take it away to fix.

So off with rear light for testing and we aren't getting any power at the side light side on normal but we do have power on park.

HMMMMMMMM........

I resisted the temptation to reach for a hammer but undid the headlight to poke about at the ignition switch wires.

This is what I found

I think the word you are looking for is Eeeeeeeekkkkkk!!!

Anyways I wiggle the brown wires (that join to purple ones on the switch) and the side light comes on.

*Does a little dance of joy*

I remade the connection and tested then shoved it all back as I couldn't look at it anymore.

Looks like a job for another day with heatshrink etc.

And all done without a fire of any description too

« on: January 17, 2011, 08:41:36 AM »
Hi Everyone

Haven't looked in for a while, well I haven't been riding so there's no point.

Anyways the battery on the F2 is dead, deceased, no more, it has shuffled off this mortal coil, gone to meet it's maker etc.

So which one do I use and are there any make recommendations

Cheers

It's 10 minutes long so boredom is allowed.

I did have some tunes but youtube disabled them

I found some of my old pictures and thought you might enjoy my CB900F

First as I bought it with a hideously restrictive exhaust

The pipe was mega loud and it wouldn't rev past 7,000

Then I gradually sorted it and it was a great mile muncher

Note the micron exhuast and the GPz fairing it also had a LEDAR kit too, (remember them) it consisted of new main jets, a circlip spacer for under the diagphram and a plug for the idle jet.

Happy daze

Tricks & Tips / Fork Seals 750F2 (Long with pictures) Part 1
« on: August 08, 2010, 07:07:15 PM »
How to do fork seals, An idiot explains

First prop the victim up with front wheel up in the air

Then remove the front calipers by undoing these bolts (14mm Socket) on both sides

I then tend to hook the calipers up out if the way so they don't pull the hoses

Then remove the front wheel. Your bike may have a "F" on the cap, if not I tend to dot punch the fork and the cap to ensure correct orientation and side match. If look carefully you'll see them

Next undo these bolts (13mm socket) on both sides

And place the nuts and washers in a safe place

I have a pair of fork seals to fit a CB750 F2 surplus to requirements.

I thought a pair hadn't been delivered but when the replacements turned up today I found the originals that I had forgotten about!!  ::)

So if you PM me with an address, the first in gets them

Right then, I have a fork seal to do on the F2

I know an oil thread is always asking for trouble but what grade should I use?

Misc / Open / This weekends pictures (Not a lot of SOHC content)
« on: July 25, 2010, 05:29:29 PM »
So this weekend I was off to my mates camp out. I left Friday around 1:30pm as I had a 2 .5hr ride

An uneventful ride later and I was there

My mate Pete was already there with his BSA 3 Wheeler but in true Top Gear style "I was the first to arrive"  ;D.

The canvas cell was soon up and the kettle was on

« on: July 12, 2010, 09:05:09 AM »
I had a great time this weekend. Well I say weekend I mean sunday because I "enjoyed" my self a little excessively on Friday Night on the special festival ale  ;D This means Saturday was a no go for me  :P I did learn not to fall asleep (or even unconscious) in the sun as I'm a little red and sore.

Still Sunday was good and here are a few camera wavings

Saturday saw a "chat show" on the stage From left we have Carl Foggarty, Freddie Spencer, Mick Grant and Jim Redman. Some of the stories were priceless!

This was just gorgeous

This made me laugh
