CB500/550 / 5th gear jumping
« on: May 10, 2021, 11:25:24 PM »
Whilst trying to sort my carb issue out I went for a run up the dual carriageway to do a plug chop, all going well  until I was in 5th, after a few miles it started jumping,  it gives the impression its jumping back into 4th momentarily,. But its sporadic,  itll go 2 or 3 miles without jumping then jump a few times then ok again. Is it possible its dropping back into 4th momentarily or could it be a clutch issue?  Only does it in 5th..

CB500/550 / Fuel Height
« on: March 15, 2021, 09:40:37 AM »
Morning all.
I am having slow running problems, bike runs fine above about 3000 rpm, but wont tick over and has no power when pulling away. The plugs are all sooted up. When i set the float height to 22mm
the fuel over flows on all 4 carbs. Needles are on the third groove down. I have got the carbs off and stripped and ultrasonically cleaned them and all the jet etc.  I have set each carb up on the bench with a sight tube so i can see the fuel level. At 26 mm float height the fuel level is 10 mm below the float bowl lip, and when drained into a beaker there is 50 ml in the float chamber. I seem to remember reading that this is right, can anyone shed any more light on this for me please.. Its driving me mad  ::)

Many thanks Andrew

Tricks & Tips / Pressure and Volt Gauge
« on: February 04, 2021, 01:28:59 PM »
Morning All..

I wanted a pressure gauge and a volt meter for my CB500K2. I couldn't find one available commercially so set about making one.
Quite pleased with the result, amazing what you can do when you're locked down and bored  :) :)

Hi all

Thanks for letting me join the site.  Currently restoring a 1972 CB500K money pit 😂. Its 99% complete so hopefully will be giving it a run soon.  I also run a 1937 AJS Model 22.
