Did anything come of the 3d printed tool tray? If not I may have a go myself.

Hi Bryanj

The outer selectors are as good as new so they are the original 500 ones. The centre fork is 350 as is the 4th/5th gear. The ratios are the same just the needle bearings on the ends are different.

Ive had the engine out and stripped, selector forks aren't worn at all but the 3 dogs on the 4th/5th gear are, i have now fitted the gear train out of the CB350 twin. This has 5 dogs and looks much more robust and the dogs engage fully. Its all back up and running now and I've done a few hundred miles without any issues, so fingers crossed this has fixed the problem.  :D

The one I fitted last time was from a cb350 twin,  the selector is the same with same part number.  I'll know more once I get the engine on the bench.

Well 1500 miles after fitting a new/second hand 5th/4th selector folk the bike is jumping out of 5th again. Surely it cant have worn another one out? So engine will have to come out again this week and see what's happened  :-[

I changed them when I rebuilt the engine earlier this year 👍👍

Hi Brianj  thanks for the advice,  I replaced the primary chain when I rebuilt the engine earlier this year.  I noticed the worn fork then but it didn't look too bad and was selecting 5th gear ok on the  bench.  Only done 150 miles since the rebuilt,  you live and learn 😁😁😁

Engine out and on the bench, found the middle selector fork really badly worn and has obviously been very hot at some point, 5th gear dogs only meshing by about 2mm. So that's why its been jumping.  Found a complete CB350 twin gearbox on Ebay with as new forks for £60 so happy days.. then it'll be back to sorting the carbs out 🤣🤣

Whilst trying to sort my carb issue out I went for a run up the dual carriageway to do a plug chop, all going well  until I was in 5th, after a few miles it started jumping,  it gives the impression its jumping back into 4th momentarily,. But its sporadic,  itll go 2 or 3 miles without jumping then jump a few times then ok again. Is it possible its dropping back into 4th momentarily or could it be a clutch issue?  Only does it in 5th..

Thanks everyone for all your support and advice.  I think there going to have to come off again and more time in the ultrasonic bath 🙄🙄 I think it's definitely down to blocked pilot ways... the saga continues  🤣🤣

Thanks for the link Murdoc lots of good info on here, I'm running a standard air filter. I'll read through all this and try again. I'm not going to give up 🤣🤣

Hi Merdoc
Everything in the carbs are original  so 40 pilot jets. I'm going to  remove the carbs again this weekend and drill out all the brass plugs in the pilot passage ways and make sure they are 100% clear..

Would low compression cause slow running issues? I'm struggling to think of anything else that's causing my problem. It runs lovely over 3000rpm sits at 60 70 mph great, it also ticks over at 900rpm when cold, but once hot either dies or revs itself up to 3500 rpm. 🤔🤔🤔
