CB750 / Re: Coronavirus advice
« on: March 30, 2020, 10:45:21 PM »
The Flu actually kills more people in a 12 month period year in year out than CV-19 to date... although the USA is trying to beat that record by the looks of it...
The difference is the Flu doesnt spread like CV-19 and they have a Vaccine for it.

My test results came back negative for CV-19 and SARS which is good.. now I can go and see my son... he is back into ICU as of yesterday with 2 chest drains... he amazes me with his ability to fight to get well again.. F#$K CANCER...

It can present differently depending on the person...  there are plenty of people with no symptoms at all that have tested positive.
I am awaiting the Test results from Friday... lovely test it is too... swab 3cm back in your nose and rotate it 5 times... then a different swab stuck right into the tonsil area of both sides of your throat.
All while sitting in my car (This was a self test as it was a week before it could be done at the clinic).
My symptoms are mostly sore throat...cough and a few temps in the low 38s. Headaches and body aches... and they are all consistent with what people who are positive are reporting.. each to a different level and some of the symptoms.. not necessarily all of them. All easilly treated with Panadol (Paracetamol). DO NOT use Ibuprofen.
I would normally not have bothered to have the test and just Self Isolated totally for the 14 days but as my Son is still in a Haematology /  Oncology ward 5 weeks after a 2nd Stem cell transplant I need to know when I can get back in to see him..  I havent been in for over a week now and even if I show up negative I cant go in till I have at least 48 hrs with no symptoms...
You cant even assume that if you do get it you will be fine if you are normally fit and well.. a guy in Qld last week.. late 60's but fit and well normally.. developed some mild symptoms on the Wednesday.. collapsed at his home on Thursday and died 48 hrs later...
All the info from Europe and China about Social Distancing and damned stupid Aussies get 1 warm day and swarm to the beach with total disregard for any Social Distancing ... Still, I guess it might weed out some of the low hanging fruit we have around.

Well we are not completely locked down over here but it probably wont be long..All Pubs, Clubs, Bars, Movie Theatres Restaurants etc are closed. No Motorsport... no football of any sort but we still have bikes to play with.
I am hunkered down at present with a sore throat and Temp of 38 so I am not allowed into the hospital to visit my Son (had his 2nd Stem cell transplant 5 weeks ago and is doing it tough right now) and that is pretty hard...
I ended up making a decision on the 2.5 CB250 G5 bikes... I sold them off to a guy who has the time to bring at least one of them back to life... and just as I was about to start on the CB400 I happened across what we lovingly call here... a Postie Bike. Or a Honda CT110 Stepthrough. They catch big $$ here and have a bit of a Cult following.. but they are fun and ideal for just a quick trip down the road for some milk or a coffee (when they re-open).
I have just been sorting out electrics (6 volt system) and then it is front forks and a good cleanup.. runs like a charm, at least it does now after cleaning out the mouse nest in the Air Cleaner..

What he doesnt show you is the god awful mess the baking soda will make to the general area around you... lol
And if you try to hose it in it will kill pretty much anything... grass, plants etc... probably not weeds though... they seem to thrive on stuff that kills everything else.

It does a good job but I would still put the carbs through an Ultrasonic cleaner afterwards and make sure every single orifice etc was blown out with compressed air.

Just to add to the weather mix... temp in outer Sydney today will be 44 degrees and they are expecting record temps of over 50 Celcius in multiple places between Perth and Sydney...
And I am spending the afternoon outside working.. Living the Dream :)

Now if only Delkevic were able to have a pipe and muffler combination that sounds like this.... I would be very happy.

Project Board / Re: CB350f (400) - big bore time
« on: November 07, 2019, 08:38:22 PM »
That 466 Big Bore kit is the same as the one that Cruising Image offer... not that it means the pistons come from the same factory as the standard oversize pistons from Cruising Image, however I would err on the side of caution and consider that you use the tolerances mentioned previously by Trigger or Julie as to when they use Cruising Image pitons.
On that bore size the sleeves will be thin so I would be wary of having the clearances as tight as Original Honda....
I have the same kit but am no where near ready to have anything bored.. its not even pulled apart yet so I am interested to see how this all goes.

Looks like I am picking up pone of these as well on the weekend... not in as nice condition though.
As long as it is rideable (safety check will prevail) I can put it on Historic Rego and get 60 days riding a year plus 2 Club Outings... will post some pics when I get it.

SOHC Singles & Twins / Re: Early 70’s CB250

Thanks guys... I think it is pretty much answered but I will still measure up over the weekend to get a better idea before taking it all down to my machinist.
I think I will just use Honda Twins as an info resource for vague stuff now rather than ask questions :)
