Other Bikes / CB/CL350k regulator rectifier6
« on: May 14, 2018, 07:17:15 AM »
Has anyone sourced a modern regulator/rectifier for the CB/CL350k in the UK? I know this one is listed as suitable for the CB/CL and is available from the US http://www.common-motor.com/honda-cb-cl-rectifier-regulator which looks a lot like this one, available from the UK https://www.motoelectrical.co.uk/types/regulators-/universal-voltage-regulator-rectifier-honda-atc-200-1982-1984-trx-200-fourtrax-1984-xl-600-r-1983-1987-rm03900/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwdXn-L7r2gIVarHtCh3YUQAlEAQYASABEgJyjvD_BwE I assume it's single phase (2 wires in, 2 out) so possibly suitable for CB/CL? Anyone know the required specs of a modern reg/rec for the CB/CL? Any thoughts or experiences welcomed!

Other Bikes / 1969 CL350 Kibblewhite Black Diamond valves
« on: May 08, 2018, 07:30:45 AM »
Hi, has anyone had any experience of replacing their standard oem valves with Kibblewhite "black diamond" valves? The inlet is 1mm oversize (35mm) and I am unsure whether I would need the valve seat cut to accommodate the 1mm over or whether you could "lap" them in? Any thoughts or tales of woe hard earned through experience greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Other Bikes / 1969 CL350 Head Ache!
« on: September 09, 2017, 11:51:05 AM »
Hi folks! What do people think? Is this cylinder head salvageable? If so, can someone reccomend a decent engineer? If not, does anyone have a cylinder head for sale to fit a 1969 Honda CL350 money pit? Cheers!

Other Bikes / 1969 CL350 cam lobe shape
« on: August 24, 2017, 11:09:36 PM »
Hi folks, recently acquired a (non running)1969 CL350 and finally got around to tearing down the top end. Pistons, head and valves heavily crusted in thick carbon deposits and strange pitting on piston crowns. Barrels seem in reasonable shape (although no "crosshatching" visible but was going to re-bore anyway) and compression seemed ok (by feel, not measured). Pistons were measured and are standard but the cam lobes seem like they have been reground asymmetricaly for faster valve closure (I think) - see pics. I assume this was intentional and not due to wear as all the cam lobes appear to be the same shape with some pitting at the apex. If this was a performance mod it seems odd due to standard pistons. Maybe heavy carbonisation due to failure to re-jet after cam mod? I'm just scratching around in the dark here! Anyone seen anything similar before?
