I am embarking on a full engine/gearbox strip down and rebuild of a recently purchased 1977 Honda CB550F2
Is it possible to get all the gaskets in a complete set? or will I have to get various sets for the topend, bottom end, gearbox.
Trigger mentioned that apart from the clutch cover, the 500 set could be used. Can you get complete gasket sets for the 500?
What are the recommendations of this forum for the best suppliers of these gasket sets.
This is my first sohc Honda strip down/rebuild, so would like to get the correct gaskets.
Thanks, Bill W.

I got a full engine gasket set from David Silver for my 750K4.... although I only used part of it.... the quality seems ok.

Hi Rob,
It is my intention to strip down the full engine/ gearbox, so will need all the gaskets for that. I believe the oil seals are a separate set for these engines. I will havea look at David Silver. Thanks Bill W.

Easier to find a good quality 550 gasket set than a 500, you will still need a engine seal kit and, head sealing pucks as not all gasket sets come with them ;)

Thanks Trigger, I will have to look out for a quality set for the 550. Any recommendations at all? Might have to get the pucks separate, although why they aren't included beats me. Cheers Bill W.

In my book,
1st is OEM
2nd is Vesrah
3rd is NP ( but be careful as loads listed on ebay but, you will not get a NP)
4th is Athena
5th is NE
all depends on the size of your wallet ;) And the head being skimmed.

Thanks Trigger, your input much appreciated. Bill W.
