Bring the engine to Gloucester and i will do it, buy and ultrasonic cleaner and do the carbs yourself with an O ring kit from Nurse Julie and DO NOT replace any of the brass in the carbs with "kits" as most kits are wrong nowadays.

It may wear in over time as it is little but probably not, personally i would ride it using the brake as much as possible whilst investigating a machinist

That wheel has been relined alread mate and may not have been turned perfectly true or possibly pulled fractionally out of true when rim laced, it may bed in or may need a very light skim by somebody with a big enough lathe to get the complete wheel in

If it fits a 550 it should be 500 twin and four as well, the number change is probably a friction material change. EBC may need the sides filing where the holes are to get the plate and split pins on

The 500 has a reputation for cracking drum liners and it is very possible the 550 is following suit, take it apart and check the cast drum part for cracks and rust lifting, if so its either a different wheel or find somebody who can machine out the liner and shrink in a new one.
I know you dont have to mot it but it would be a fail if you did

My original 500 used to slip like buggery on take off if useing a handfull of throttle taking several hundred yards(old english measurment) before stopping, never wore out and gave up worrying about it

The "jitter" is nothing to do with alignment but either oval or corroded drum, you dont say what bike it is, very frustrating and i dont care if its in the header, shouldnt need to read that!

The Ram Air did serve a purpose in keeping the plugs cooler, and being a pain for mechanics, but then the 380 and 550 were incredibly reliable, in all the time working on then only ever fitted one crank and that was rumbly mains through standing for yeard

Just so you know that seat has been modified as well.
It would be worth taking the engine out and removing the head so you can determine which model top end it is, it is no problem running an earlier top end as long as oil returns are sorted, slightly down on power but are you really going to be able to tell unless you rag it everywhere?

More likely an "old stock" bike, they did not sell that well an Honda was discounting the last of the F2 to dealers when the dohc came out in 78
