Post by: Athame57 on December 26, 2019, 08:39:17 PM
Do the clutch cables on a CB400F have a short life span or something, I seem to be needing my third , the one I have is about a year old with 2,500 or so miles on it....  :-\

Only if they are cheap, poorly manufactured cables and / or routed incorrectly.

I normally change mine about every 3 years, I don't think they like sitting so close to a hot cylinder head. Not ultra expensive, easy to fit, and the worth it just for the orgasmic pleasure of operating the clutch with a brand new smoothly operating cable. I've got some of the old ones still hanging up with oil seeping through them, but y'know I think part of the New Year's clear out is going to include them! Happy New Year everybody, and stay upright. Michael.

Michael, oil in a genuine Honda cable is not a good idea as the inner steel is rubber covered and the outer is nylon lined so oil makes them swell and get tighter. Old Brit cables were sreel on steel and needed oiling

QUESTION : Does it snap in the same place every time ? If it does, then it is rubbing in that area  ;)
