One of the fuel pipes split at the tap and is too short to cut back. What sadistic SOB decided the best way to get fuel to the carbs was by routing the pipes that way? I'm getting really good at disassembling half the back end of the bike to take the carbs off which is not how I wish to spend my Sundays. I'm sure that the many learned members of this group have come up with a much improved solution to the problem, but in the mean time can anyone tell me what size fuel hose I need to get? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers Mate, I changed the other tubes when I last had the carbs off so suppose I should have done the fuel ones at the same time. Learning all the time!

They can be changed useing long needle nose pliers with carbs on, usually using versions of anglo saxon "special" words but it can be done

As Bryan says, ultra long nose pliers and maybe a screwdriver to help push as the pliers pull. Done it with nitrile. I bought a cheap set like these with different angles.

No way could I see how to replace the tubing with the carbs on; couldn't even see how it was routed. :(
Thems is scary looking bits of kit! You sure you want to share this with the rest of the world? ??? I just use a pair of artery forceps, WD40 and swear a bit.

The difficult bit is stopping the tee from pivoting whilst pushing the pipe on, i usually end up with pliers in one hand screwdriver in the other and pipe in another

Yes I recall that now, the T wanting to turn. I think the pipe wanted to go on at a slight angle and a long screwdriver can help guide it straighter as it hits the T. Took a few goes.

OK, I've just done a trial run with the undamaged tube to see how it goes. Is there any reason why the pipe should not run over the top of the connecting tube, or is pain and suffering a prime requirement for success?

Right, trial run two; fitted the pipe on with the tube vertical then managed to guide it under as original and through the hole a bit with some grips, then "easing" it under the cross tube when it kinks up a bit. Being Nitrile and slippery helps a lot though. Not sure which route I'll eventually go with when the new tube turn up. Thoughts?
