Have checked the free play Clem2112 and seems about right at 20 mm at the tightest point.

CB350/400 / Clunking noise from front sprocket area.
« on: April 21, 2019, 11:21:25 PM »
Evening all. Have just pushed my bike into the garage after riding home from work and have noticed a clunking noise that appears to come from the front sprocket area. When I push it backwards it doesn’t make the noise at all.  Any ideas what it might be? ( hope it’s not bad news🙁)

Thanks for your replies Guys. I’ll try some Redex. Also Peter the previous owner advised turning the tap off before you get home to run the bowls dry but I sometimes forget....

Thanks John. Will try some Redex. Do you just pour it straight into the petrol tank?

Afternoon. Probably a silly question but thought I would ask anyway. Re fuelled my bike last night in readiness for riding to work this afternoon. As I pushed my bike out of the garage put it on its sidestand and turned the fuel tap on. Closed the garage door and went back to my bike to find fuel dripping underneath the bike. Is this normal? It stopped once I started my bike up. Lovely ride into work though through Windsor Great Park and along Runnymede. Just the sort of thing I bought the bike for. 😀

Bought a pair of the mirrors recommended by Julie and tried them on my bike yesterday. Much better than the other ones, so thanks very much Julie for the recommendation.

I got my 400/4 insured with Lynbrooke for £128 including breakdown cover. No NCD due to not having riden a bike for 20 years. Fully Comp with £50 excess, in a locked garage but only 3,000 miles PA. Lynbrooke were very easy to deal with as well.

Welcome to the forum Mike. I joined in December 2018 looking for info on 400/4’s and ended up buying a very nice 400/4 from a fellow member of the forum. Lots of info and help on here.

Hi Julie, did you buy them direct or from a supplier on eBay?

Thanks very much Julie. I will definitely invest in a pair of them as I could see absolutely zero traffic behind me.

Morning. Went for a ride on my bike yesterday but all I could see out of my mirrors were my elbows! Is this as good as they get or am I particularly wide or just have them adjusted wrong?

It’s a bit worrying that you spend over £4k on a bike which you think is in good condition but then needs another £2k spending on it!
