Misc / Open / Re: Replacing tyres yourself, any tips?
« on: March 10, 2022, 05:12:12 PM »
I must admit I have  enough trouble doing my road bike tyres and last time I tried changing a tube pinched the tube. I can’t imagine what a motorbike tyre would be like.

Thanks Bryanj. I shall do the same then, maybe it won’t need a blowtorch to get it off next time then.

Do you think it’s ok to torque it up to the level the manual says, or is that too tight?

Thanks K2-K6. I took the caliper apart and the arm was moving quite freely. Should of put the caliper back together but instead took it all apart but couldn’t get the pin out of the bracket. Bryanj said it may need drifting out but will have to do that another time, I didn’t want to break something.
Have put it all back now , just having slight issue stopping the pads rubbing on the disc.

Bought a new flexible hose for my grease gun and to my surprise it worked! Nice new grease in there now. It was a sod to get back off the nipple though. Thanks all for your advice. Now on to the calliper pin.

Thanks Bryan. I think I will stick to stripping and greasing as i don’t have the skills to fit grease nipples. Good idea though.

CB350/400 / Hinge pivot pin.
« on: December 27, 2021, 08:21:29 PM »
Evening. Hope you all had a nice Christmas. Sorry but I have another question that is probably totally obvious to all of you. I’ve read that it’s a good idea to strip, clean and grease the front brake calliper hinge pivot pin. I was thinking of doing it soon but was wondering how easy is it to get it off and do the job ? What do I need to dismantle to get access to it. Thanks in advance. Chris.

Thanks very much for the information. Sounds like I need to get myself a adjustable nozzle.

Thanks guys. Ted I think I will have to get an adjustable nozzle as you suggest, mine doesn’t seem to fit that well. K2 -K6, I managed to get a small screwdriver and push the ball bearing in and out so I think that’s fine. If I removed the nipple could I grease the swing arm and then replace the nipple? ( maybe a daft question).

Evening. Am trying to grease my swingarm. When I put the grease gun on the nipple and pump the gun the grease just squirts all around the nipple. Has anyone any tips of how to get the grease in? Many thanks.

Thanks JamesH for your reply. I’m hoping it’s not too gunged up in there as I think the  Previous owner rebuilt it all about 4 years ago. Do I need to use any particular grease?
