CB350/400 / Greasing the swingarm.
« on: December 17, 2021, 10:25:39 PM »
Evening.
I would like to grease the swingarm on my bike but am not sure how to do it. I know where the nipple thing is but do I need a grease gun and do I need a special sort of grease?
Do I need to unscrew the nipple and just put the grease in until it comes out? Any info would be much appreciated.
Chris.

Sounds like a good idea Tricky Micky. It does look like it could do with a good clean up all round fuse box area.

Thanks for the info Deano, I will buy some new fuses from Silvers and try that first I think.

The fuse had blown so changed it with the spare. Headlight now works. Thanks very much for all of your advice. Am I right in thinking though that there must be a reason/ problem as to why it blew in the first place?

Thanks for the replies guys. Will try and have a look in the next day or two. Just when the bike Is running well something else goes wrong. I guess that’s old bikes for you.

CB350/400 / Headlight problem.
« on: September 21, 2021, 08:08:20 AM »
Morning.
Whilst riding home from work last night my dipped headlight stopped working, switched on to main beam, that didn’t work either! The only way I could get the headlight to work was the pass/ flash light switch.
Was wondering if anyone had come across this before or where I should look first.
Thanks in advance.
Chris.

I have a USA 400 f, I fitted the above headlight to it, works great, a lot better than original sealed beam.
I tried fitting a DS light but it will not fit in the US model rim
Hi boilermaker1.Thanks. This is the same one as K2-K6 spotted for me. It sounds a good buy with the trim as well. Did it fit fine into the original shell?

Would get you going at reasonable cost.

For the observant,  yes I know who the trader is. But he knows what will fit what as he's trading this stuff regularly.
Thanks for your replies. K2-K6 thanks, this one looks good value. Now for a silly question that I’m sure everyone else will think has an obvious answer. How would I secure the light to the headlight rim ? mine (US import ) has various fittings to hold the light in which aren’t on any of the lights that I’ve seen for sale.

CB350/400 / Sealed beam headlight
« on: November 14, 2020, 02:46:50 PM »
Afternoon all. My dipped beam has gone on my USA import 400/4. I have taken the headlight apart and realised it’s a sealed beam headlight so can’t just replace the bulb. Have rung  Silvers and asked about their replacement light unit but they say it won’t fit my USA headlight rim as the fittings are different. Silvers do a rim as well but I think it’s about £95. Wondering if anybody has any suggestions?

CB350/400 / Re: Paint chip on petrol tank.
« on: October 30, 2020, 04:33:02 PM »
Afternoon all. I have managed to chip the paint of my newly painted petrol tank, it’s only a small chip and right near the front so don’t know it’s there without looking. Is there anything that you guys could recommend me to use to touch it up with? Thanks.
You sound just like me, if you didn't get it painted you wouldn't have chipped it. What I did to cure a pin head sized chip was to get a can of he right colour and one of lacquer first. I then masked off the area around the chip. I sprayed some of the paint into the cans own ld and applied in a few goes with an artists brush. Ditto the laquer, it takes close inspection to spot now.
I guess it was inevitable I would chip it sooner or later, just rather it was later rather than sooner! Thanks for the advice on fixing the chip.

Thanks James. Hadn’t thought of a reaction to the paint. I will send Menno an email and ask him.
