Title: Paintwork completed
Post by: davefirestorm on June 09, 2020, 08:03:44 PM
Picked my tank/panels/seat cowl up from painter today, very pleased with the work done had seat recovered too.Paint is a metal flake and possibly a bit “blingier” than it should be but that’s how I want it ;D

Very nice work, also think it's one of the best colours for the F1 as it really sets the original shape off so well.

Thankyou👍 I did consider having it painted candy sapphire blue but think orange looks better. Will get the alloy wheels refurbed that I picked up from Keith on here and keep the Delkevic on it instead of the original 4-1 which is in good condition but so heavy.I haven’t tried fitting the chrome trim on the cowl yet Julie but fingers crossed it’ll do the job.

Not happy with the buckles, they’re new ones very sharp edges on them which I filed but look bit cheap/nasty.£480 for paint included doing badges and striping, bought some decals from Diego but he didn’t use them.Anyone want some decals, cheap😁

Paintwork looks great, and so does the recovered seat - the Father-in-Law did a good job on that!

Real shame you didn't get the seat buckles rechromed, would look much better if they were.

Wonder why F1/2 owners don't colour code the side panels, does it not look right?

Nice job BTW, like that. Any chance of a price range, just for comparison with others  so we know.

Hi F1 side panels were not colour coded from new but F2 ones were, I did colour code mine but when I restored it they were put back to stock

Cheers

Dennis

I am starting to get fed up of the red side panels. What colour has he used on your side panels.

Stripes painted on.Badges cleaned and painted.Prefer to have side panels black 😁

So did it suit the bike having them colour coded? Seems weird that people haven't done that more.

For instance, my CB1300 had black unpainted panels up to 2008, in 2009 they colour coded them and the difference in how the bike looked was amazing. Mine are colour coded as standard and why others haven't copied the look mystifies me.

£480 is a decent price for that quality of work. When you say badges, did he restore/repaint the badges or supply new ones? Are stripes painted or did he use his own decals? If painted he did an outstanding job of them.

£480 seems like a bargain if they are as good as they look in the photo.

Looks nice with side panels painted in that colour.Yes I reckon price I paid excellent,I guess solid paint would have cost more?

Codes I gave him I sourced from an American site were of no use as likely just part numbers I don’t think Honda gave codes in the seventies? He had the original tank to get a color match and I went with a stronger metal flake than original side panels he matched to originals
