Bought this rediculously cheap valve compressor on ebay for less han £9 delivered! Was always going to be shite I even looked at a utube video saying so but it did basically work. So thought what could it do wrong with quite a simple mechanical process and bought one.
Hey ho, the build quality was shite and I had to file some rough metal off spring locating socket thingy. Having done that it worked very well. Threads used to compress the spring on the g clamp bit of it were a very sloppy fit.
Anyway it does the job easily for us ocasional mechanics who may never even use it again. And £9 quid, why not!!

Just dreaming of future projects. I love the look of sloper style engines over vertical on these earlier bikes. My ideas would be a non standard variant, probably based on the CL frame. What are the common issues with engines and what are spares like to get? Appreciate CL was not imported into the UK and CB parts would be more available (where they do cross over). Just thinking fodder.....

Well, stripped the 400 this weekend after about 7 years of ownership when it has sat dormant in the Garage in the main. This is the rough bike a few of you will have seen at Crich the first year we met up.
Mixed findings.
It came apart very easily, including the main stand pivot! PO's have obviously had it apart before which was where the bad was found. The wiring was seriously bad. Cannot believe it ran and everything worked. Bodge aint the word.
The precious 4/1 headers better than expected but think I will still re chrome.
Motor still to come apart.
This is unlikely to be a fully documented thread but I will do my best with piccies and ask loads of questions of you experts out there.

Had a couple of emails about next years event. Relevant content as below from first email and second as separate post. Tim Good afternoon,
First of all, many thanks to all of you that attended in the last two years and made the 'Classic Motorcycle Day' the success it has been so far. The 'Vincent HRD Owners Club' and 'Crich Tramway Village' team are working hard to make it another great day in 2019 and any previous issues we had, will hopefully be resolved.
One change this year which is most relevant to yourselves, the Club organisers, is that we are NOT making use of a 'club booking form this year'. Instead, I will monitor the event registrations that open in January via www.tramway.co.uk/whatson/ and allocate areas accordingly. Each year we move the clubs around, so please don't expect to be in the same place as previous years. I do intend keeping the race bikes outside the depot again and we are definitely having an area somewhere for pre-war machines and vintage flat tankers. You will, of course, be notified in advance of the event where your club or group will be allocated.
This year we are running the 'Public Vote' for 'Best in Show' again but are working on a plan to get more people to actually vote than in previous years. We would like you all to encourage your members to vote and get the public to vote.

Got the chance of a low mileage very original CB100N. No particular interest in the model but maybe good to move it on to finance other things...
Got no photos etc to post at the moment but just wondering what it could be worth as I say. 1982, less than 10k miles original exhaust, good history. Ball park value?
Appreciate any input.

Hi,
Just had an email through about this years event on the 1st July.
Last year went down well with those who went I think. Personally now when I read many posts, I can relate to them more - knowing the "character"** behind it. (**substitute a word of your choice!).
This years brochure accompanying below. Who's in then?
Let you know more when I receive further info.

Just been watching dear old Henry Cole's Shed and Buried telly programme. They were featuring a bike collection at Craven Garage near York. Loads of bikes / looks good - is it? Anyone been?

Great to meet everyone on Sunday - a good day was had.....
Had an email from the organisers as below to give feedback. Said I would put it out to you guys and revert. Comments please.
Hi Tim, sorry I didn't have much time to speak yesterday but hope you enjoyed it. I'm emailing the different groups to get feedback so we can make the event better for next year. We know what went well but need to know what wasn't so good. We've a good idea of some things that need improving but please be honest and give us your thoughts. Regards Jon Lambley Vincent Owners Club
