well I managed to clean up the fuse box but I am wanting to change from glass fuses to blade type as for carb kits there are some on ebay I emailed one company from japan who were advertising carb kits for cm 400 but they replied it would not do my bike the last time I cleaned the carbs I wrote down the jet sizes but I have lost the bit paper I know one jet is 72 but I canny remember if the other jet was 118 or 110 therte is a company from Taiwan advertising carb kits for my bike I have had the bike a while now now and would like to find the actual jet sizes they may have been changed but after cleaning the carbs the bike is running ok the carb is keihin vb31d

anybody else on here got a cm 400t mines is a European model but woulnd care if yours is the American one it would be good to share experiances have since got rid of the massive top box

as I am new here don't know if this topic has been discussed before I have fitted very low powerv led lights to be seen better I have four at 5 watt each when I switch them on and my dipped beam the revs driop a little if I switch them off the revs go back up again my main headlight bulb is 60/55 I think its called an h4

Interchangeability / oil

I have always used 20/50 motor oil in my 1982 cm400tc would it be ok to use some of the modern oils semi/synthetic for example

thanks for the reply the European model is a bit different as I said sent photos of my ignition switch to various shops on e bay nobody had one I have a clymers manual usa one it helps with some info any good news the switch seems to be ok the last time I had it off I obviously didn't tighten it enough it came loose and the plate that sits on top of it had came loose and stopped the key from turning on I thought the switch was done found out the mounting screws had stripped so I could not tighten it up right drilled them through nut and bolt now tight another wee problem the carbs on European models are vb31d tried to get a rebuild kit couldn't find any just wondering if anybody knows if any other vb would work if I needed them another help I needf is it possible to change the fuse box on my bike from the glass fuses to blades

hi I don't know if I have the right page or not but here goes my name is Fergus I am 67 years old I live in in Falkirk Scotland I ride an 1982 cm 400tc its a European model a wee bit different from the usa ones the query I have is I may need an new ignition switch it has 5 wires I know a lot of other Hondas cb400t superdream etc are inter changeable I sent photos to various dealers on ebay of my switch some never had any one told me that the European cm 400 had slightly different electrics doe any member know if any other five wire switches would be ok there are a few on ebay

hi my names is Fergus I live in Falkirk Scotland I ride a Honda cm400tc European model  wee bit different but not much from the American one although seemingly much rarer in the uk according to david silver I am 67 years old I passed my test in 1967 on a bsa c15 I did not learn to drive a car till I was fifty I have had numerous bikes since 1967 although I don't go out as much now I still like to get out on it now and again now I have a query for the technically minded I may need a ignition switch I saw a few after market ones on ebay the five wire kind and I know a lot of these parts are interchangeable with cb 400 superdream etc some of the shops I wrote to said that their switches wouldn't work as the European model had slightly different electrics would this be right or can anybody advise where I can get one if needed I seem to be blowing fuses would a loose ignition barrel cauase this I have since tightened it up and the ignition lights have come back on the ones I looked at all have 5 wires help
