Hi all, does anyone know the bhp for the 400/4? My wife is doing her bike test but when she passes she's restricted to 33bhp for 2yrs.
We're looking for her next bike snd she likes the 400.
Cheers
Andy.

It was 37bhp (Din) at 8500 revs.
I recall someone else asking this a while ago - I think they went to a dealer/mechanic and got a letter stating that a 30+ year old bike would no longer make anything like the manufacturers claimed output at the time of sale!
Try it - you never know.

Hi i got mine put on a dyno
-
I've got a CB1 - American version.......apparently it's 55.2HP......but I'm guessing you don't mean this version of the 'popular mid-size engine' ;D ;D ;D
It goes fast, fast.... :o

I was reading an old Classic Bike the other night which stated that so long as you had the dyno chart proving your output was below the limit then you were OK.
They specifically mentioned the 400/4 as one of the bikes that would be appropriate to use on that type of licence.

I have the same situation with my wife, how do you stand with insurance companies, and with the law, if she was to be stopped, would a dyno printout be accepted by an insurance company, and in a court of law ?
Regards ianmck.

If you look carefully it does say 37bhp.I would think that Honda UK would be contacted in the case of any court case and a similar page produced as evidence.
There are restrictor kits available to reduce down to 33bhp which then come with a certificate guaranteeing this.

sounds ok, any idea who supplies a restrictor kit for the 400/4

Given that it's an old bike and probably sub-33bhp already, you might ask them to guarantee it makes 33bhp with the restrictor kit! :)
