Title: Sitting oil in cylinder head
Post by: watty51 on December 12, 2020, 01:05:18 PM
Hi all,

Just taking off my old cylinder head and noticed the amount of oil sitting under the camshaft was noticeably different between 1 and 2 cylinder and 3 and 4 cylinder. Begs the question is this normal or is there two much oil in 1 and 2 and not enough oil in 3 and 4. ?

Was it on the side stand before you took the top off?

LOL! First thing that sprung to mind! But also a bit of angled movement before hand might be causing that, there is definite barriers between these cylinders.

The bike has mainly been move around the garage then put on its side stand, until about a week a go, then been on centre stand. It just looked a bit odd when I took the cover off. Obvious now I think off it.
Thanks for the replies.

That's normal.   Those pools of oil are for the cam lobes to dip into because it takes time for the oil to get to the cams on start up.
